Suffolk - Multiple Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C691 BARTON ROAD AND THURSTON ROAD, THURSTON AND GREAT BARTON

Suffolk County Council has made an Order closing the following roads:

• C691 Barton Road, Thurston from Mere Lodge to the junction with Mill Lane
• C691 Thurston Road, Great Barton.

This is to facilitate carriageway patching. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be the A143, Thurston Road/Pakenham, Ixworth Road, Norton Road, Barton Road Thurston and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 27/08/2026 - 28/08/2026 from 8am - 5pm but, if necessary, the Order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U4130 CHURCH LANE, BRANTHAM

Suffolk County Council has made an Order closing the U4130 Church Lane, Brantham from 10 metres southwest of the junction with the A137 for 42 metres south westbound to facilitate a pole replacement. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Ipswich Road, Church Lane and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate on 27/08/2026 from 8am - 6pm. If necessary, the Order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U4612 SILVER STREET, OLD NEWTON

Suffolk County Council has made an Order closing the U4612 Silver Street, Old Newton from no. 7 to no. 20 to facilitate pole and overhead wiring works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Station Road, the B1113, Silver Street and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate on 27/08/2026 from 8am - 6pm. If necessary, the Order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF FOOTPATHS 5, 12 AND 35, WESTLETON, BLYTHBURGH AND WALBERSWICK

Suffolk County Council has made an Order closing the following Footpaths:

• Footpath 5, Westleton from Footpath 12, Blythburgh for 285 metres south westbound
• Footpath 12, Blythburgh
• Footpath 35, Walberswick.

This is for safety reasons due to damaged boardwalks. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

There is no diversion route.

This Order continues in force the emergency measures operating since 07/08/2026.

It is intended that the closure will operate until 06/02/2027.

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (DISTRICT OF MID SUFFOLK) (PARISH OF PALGRAVE)

(VARIOUS ROADS) (20MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2026

On 24/08/2026 Suffolk County Council made the above Order for the District of Suffolk Coastal under section 84(1)(a) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended. The effect of this is to introduce a 20mph speed limit along:

• The Green (C550), from a point approximately 25 metres north of the junction with Upper Rose Lane (C579), in a northerly direction to the junction with Millway Lane (C550), a distance of approximately 325 metres.
• Denmark Hill (C553), from the junction with Millway Lane (C550) in a northerly direction for a distance approximately 115 metres.
• Priory Road (U5407), from a point approximately 40 metres north of the junction with Lion Road (C579) in a northerly direction to the junction with The Green (C550), a distance of approximately 115 metres.
• Forge Close (U5406), for the full extent of Forge Close from the junction with The Green (C550) to the highway boundary, a distance of approximately 70 metres.
• Lows Lane (U5406), for the full extent of Lows Lane from the junction with The Green (C550) to the highway boundary, a distance of approximately 190 metres.
• Millway Lane (C550), from the junction with The Green (C550) / Denmark Hill (C553), in a westerly direction to the eastern boundary of Ivy Cottage, a distance of approximately 135 metres.

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (DISTRICT OF FOREST HEATH) (STOPPING, WAITING AND LOADING PROHIBITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS) AND ON-STREET PARKING PLACES)

(MAP-BASED) ORDER 2019 (NEWMARKET) (HAMILTON ROAD) (U6500/30) (ROWLEY DRIVE) (U6500/450) (PROHIBITION OF WAITING) (VARIATION NO.13) ORDER 202-

Suffolk County Council proposes to make the above Order under Sections 1(1) and (2), 2(1) to (3), 4(2) and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which would substitute revision 1 of Map Tile EE20 in place of revision 0 of the same Map Tile into the above-named 2019 Order. The effect of this would be to introduce:

• ‘No waiting at any time’ on Hamilton Road (U6500/30) on:

• its west side, from a point approximately 59m south-east of the centre to the junction with Rowley Drive, in a north-westerly direction to a point approximately 19m north-west of the centre to the junction with Rowley Drive, a total distance of approximately 78m.

• its east side, from the junction with Rowley Drive, to a point approximately 65m south-east of the centre to the junction with Rowley Drive.

• its east side, from the junction with Rowley Drive, to a point approximately 30m north-west of the centre to the junction with Rowley Drive.

• ‘No waiting at any time’ on Rowley Drive (U6500/450) on:

• both sides, from the junction with Hamilton Road in a north-easterly direction for a distance of approximately 19m.

Exemptions to the waiting restrictions allow a vehicle to wait for so long as is necessary to board or alight, or to load and unload for building, industrial or demolition works; for emergency services; for the maintenance of the road or its services; and for fulfilling statutory duties. There are the usual exemptions for Blue Badge holders.

(STOPPING, WAITING AND LOADING PROHIBITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS AND ON-STREET PARKING PLACES) (MAP-BASED) ORDER 2018 (BUNGAY) (QUAVES LANE) (U1220) (PROHIBITION OF WAITING) (VARIATION NO.42) ORDER 202-

Suffolk County Council proposes to make the above Order under Sections 1(1) and (2), 2(1) to (3), 4(2) and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which would substitute revision 1 of Map Tile AZ156 in place of revision 0 of the same Map Tile, into the above-named 2018 Order. The effect of this would be to introduce:

• ‘No waiting at any time’ restriction on Quaves Lane (U1220), on its south side from a point approximately 62m south-west of its junction with Upper Olland Street (B1435), westward for a distance of approximately 45m. For the avoidance of doubt, this restriction will add to the existing ‘no waiting at any time’ restriction on the south side of Quaves Lane creating a continuous restriction along this road.

Exemptions to the waiting restrictions allow a vehicle to wait for so long as is necessary to board or alight, or to load and unload for building, industrial or demolition works; for emergency services; for the maintenance of the road or its services; and for fulfilling statutory duties. There are the usual exemptions for Blue Badge holders.
