What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

THANET AREA

Approach Road, Margate, CT9 2AQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Approach Road, Margate, on or after 14th September 2026 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 11, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Approach Road, Cliftonville Avenue, Northdown Road, Wilderness Hill, Dane Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



King Street, Margate, CT9 1QS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of King Street, Margate, on or after 14th September 2026 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside Tudor House, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via King Street, Addington Street, Union Crescent, B2055 Cecil Street, B2055 Hawley Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Monkton Road, Egbert Road & Taylor Road, Minster (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Monkton Road, Egbert Road & Taylor Road, Minster, on or after 31st August 2026 for up to 2 days or until the works have been completed.

Closures will be imposed between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Monkton Road will be closed from outside number 24 to outside number 26.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Monkton Road, Monkton Street, Willetts Hill, A299 Monkton Roundabout, A299 Canterbury Road West, A299 Mount Pleasant, Tothill Street and vice versa.

Egbert Road will be closed at the junction of Monkton Road.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Egbert Road, St Augustine Road, Freemans Road and vice versa.

Taylor Road will be closed at the junction of Monkton Road.

There is no alternative route. Every effort will be made to maintain access for residents whenever it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Nixon Avenue & Whitehall Road, Ramsgate (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

To allow gas works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Nixon Avenue & Whitehall Road, Ramsgate, on or after 14th September 2026 for up to 15 days or until the works have been completed.

Closures will be imposed to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Nixon Avenue will be closed at the junction of Whitehall Road.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Nixon Avenue, Wheatley Road, Coleman Crescent, A254 Margate Road, Whitehall Road and vice versa.

Whitehall Road will be closed at the junction of Nixon Avenue.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Whitehall Road, B2014 Newington Road, A255 High Street, A255 Park Road, Shah Place, A254 Margate Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Preston Road, Ramsgate, CT12 5AS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Preston Road, Ramsgate, on or after 1st September 2026 for up to 7 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside Manston Grange, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Preston Road, Manston Court Road, B2050 Manston Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Princes Street, Margate, CT9 1NZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & SUSPENSION OF ONE-WAY) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Princes Street, Margate, on or after 31st August 2026 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 26 Union Crescent. The one-way Order will be suspended the entire length, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Princes Street, B2055 Cecil Street, Hawley Square, Addington Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



The Pathway, Broadstairs, CT10 1JQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of The Pathway, Broadstairs, on or after 14th September 2026 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 7 Harbour Mews, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route. Every effort will be made to maintain access for residents whenever it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Trinity Square, Margate, CT9 1BH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Trinity Square, Margate, on or after 1st September 2026 for up to 3 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 31, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Trinity Square, B2051 Fort Crescent and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Way Hill, Minster, CT12 4HS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Way Hill, Minster, on or after 15th September 2026 for up to 10 hours or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside Rose Cottage, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Way Hill, Thorne Hill, Grinsell Hill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Woodchurch Road, Birchington (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

To allow fibre works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Woodchurch Road, Birchington, on or after 18th September 2026 for up to 4 days or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed approximately 400m & 430m North of Woodchurch Cottage, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 only, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Woodchurch Road, Park Road Lane, Shottendane Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Various Roads, Ramsgate (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026

To allow gas works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Various Roads, Ramsgate, on or after 1st September 2026 until the works have been completed.

Closures will be imposed in 6 phases as detailed below, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

Phase 1 - Union Road will be closed from 1st September 2026, with estimated completion by 18th September 2026.

The road will be closed at the junction of Cecilia Road.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Union Road, St Georges Road, A255 Hereson Road, Cecilia Road and vice versa.

Phase 2 - Cecilia Road will be closed from 1st September 2026, with estimated completion by 26th October 2026.

The road will be closed the entire length.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Cecilia Road, College Road, A254 Margate Road, A255 Boundary Road, A255 Hereson Road and vice versa.

Phase 3 - Dumpton Park Road will be closed from 19th October 2026, with estimated completion by 30th October 2026.

The road will be closed between the junctions of Cecilia Road and College Road.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Dumpton Park Road, Leopold Road, Holly Lane, College Road and vice versa.

Phase 4 - College Road will be closed from 19th October 2026, with estimated completion by 27th November 2026.

The road will be closed from the side of number 60 to Dumpton Lane.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via College Road, A254 Margate Road, A255 Boundary Road, A255 Hereson Road, Cecilia Road and vice versa.

Phase 5 - Dumpton Lane will be closed from 2nd November 2026, with estimated completion by 13th November 2026.

The road will be closed at the junction of College Road.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Dumpton Lane, West Dumpton Lane, Ramsgate Road, A255 Hereson Road, Cecilia Road, College Road and vice versa.

Phase 6 - Holly Road will be closed from 16th November 2026, with estimated completion by 27th November 2026.

The road will be closed at the junction of College Road.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Holly Road, Leopold Road, Dumpton Park Road, College Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
