What is happening?
Highways
Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
MAIDSTONE AREA
A229 Cranbrook Road, Staplehurst (30 MPH SPEED LIMIT) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
To allow utility repair and maintenance works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to impose a temporary mandatory 30 MPH speed limit on part of A229 Cranbrook Road, Staplehurst, on or after 14th September 2026 for up to 21 days or until the works have been completed.
The current 50 MPH speed limit will be suspended from the junction with private road to Knocksbridge Farm, for the duration of these works. Restrictions will be imposed to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
Boxley Road, Maidstone, ME14 2AN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
To allow flow meter reading works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Boxley Road, Maidstone, on or after 6th September 2026 for up to 1 night or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Pine Grove to the junction with Rock Road, between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Boxley Road, Penenden Heath Road, A249 Sittingbourne Road, B2012 Holland Road, B2012 Well Road, Boxley Road and vice versa.
Chart Hill Road, Chart Sutton (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
To allow new water service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Chart Hill Road, Chart Sutton, on or after 15th September 2026 for up to 3 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of the road leading to Old Oak Paddocks. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Chart Hill Road, Warmlake Road, Chart Corner, B2163 Plough Wents Road, B2163 Heath Road, A229 Linton Hill, A229 Staplehurst Road, Chart Hill Road and vice versa.
Church Street, Teston, ME18 5AN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
To allow telegraph pole replacement and associated cable rehanging works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Church Street, Teston, on or after 18th September 2026 for up to 4 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of property named Fourth Throws. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Church Street, Malling Road, The Street, A26 Tonbridge Road, Church Street and vice versa.
George Street, Hunton, ME15 0RE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
To allow telegraph pole replacement and associated cable rehanging works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of George Street, Hunton, on or after 17th September 2026 for up to 2 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Tanglin Cottage. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via George Street, Redwall Lane, East Street, George Street and vice versa.
High Street, Sutton Valence, ME17 3AR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
To allow cabling and pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of High Street, Sutton Valence, on or after 14th September 2026 for up to 1 day or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Lower Road, for a distance approximately 10 metres in an East direction, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Lower Road, Rectory Lane, Chapel Road, Broad Street, High Street and vice versa.
Iden Crescent, Staplehurst, TN12 0AF (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
To allow telegraph pole replacement and associated cable rehanging works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Iden Crescent, Staplehurst, on or after 4th September 2026 for up to 4 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of property number 25. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Iden Crescent, Hanmer Way, Iden Crescent and vice versa.
Lancet Lane, Loose, ME15 9RX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
To allow gas mains replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Lancet Lane, Loose, on or after 14th September 2026 for up to 12 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of property number 18 to property number 18a. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Lancet Lane, A229 Loose Road, Anglesey Avenue and vice versa.
Pye Corner & Eastwood Road, Ulcombe, ME17 1EE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
To allow overhead fibre cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Pye Corner & Eastwood Road, Ulcombe, on or after 3rd September 2026 for up to 1 day or until the works have been completed.
The roads will be closed from the junction with Lenham Road, for a distance approximately 1520 metres in a West direction between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Pye Corner, The Street, Ulcombe Hill, Lenham Road, Headcorn Road, Liverton Hill, Headcorn Road, Lenham Road, Eastwood Road and vice versa.
Sandway, Boughton Malherbe (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
To allow telegraph pole replacement and associated cable rehanging works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Sandway, Boughton Malherbe, on or after 17th September 2026 for up to 2 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Boughton Place Oast. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Sandway, Chain Gate Road, Liverton Hill, Headcorn Road, Woodcock Lane, Church Road, Sandway and vice versa.
Vanity Lane, Linton, ME17 4BP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Vanity Lane, Linton, on or after 4th September 2026 for up to 1 day or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with B2163 Heath Road for a distance approximately 1120 metres in a South direction, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 weekday only. To the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Vanity Lane, Wheelers Lane, A229 Linton Hill, B2163 Heath Road and vice versa.
Yelsted Lane, Yelsted (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
To allow water works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Yelsted Lane, Yelsted, on or after 14th September 2026 for up to 3 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the carriageway outside Flint Barn, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Yelsted Lane, Yelsted Road, Yaugher Lane, Magpie Lane, Cox Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
