The County of Carmarthenshire (A48 Trunk Road, Carmarthen to Cross Hands) (Prohibition of Driving) Order 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that Carmarthenshire County Council, on behalf of the Welsh Ministers, proposes to make an Order under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to 2(3), 3(2), 4 and 124 of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The effect of the proposed Order would be to prohibit any vehicle from passing through, crossing or otherwise using those sections of the A48 Trunk Road described in the Schedule to this Notice, which are to be permanently closed to vehicular traffic.

Full details of the proposal are contained in the draft Order which, together with plans showing the lengths of affected roads and a Statement of the Council's reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be examined at Carmarthenshire County Council’s Customer Service HWBs located at:

on the plan, being the location where the extended centreline of the Class III Road
(C2066) from Llanarthne intercepts with the centreline of the A48 Trunk Road.
Junction 17 (Foelgastell) That 26.5-metre length of existing centre reserve opening on the A48 Trunk Road,
between the eastbound and westbound carriageways and centred at a point marked ‘B’
on the plan, being the location where the extended centreline of the Class III Road
(C2061) from Foelgastell intercepts with the centreline of the A48 Trunk Road.

The County of Carmarthenshire (A48 Trunk Road, Carmarthen to Cross Hands) (Prohibition Of Right Turn) Order 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that Carmarthenshire County Council, on behalf of the Welsh Ministers, proposes to make an Order under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to 2(3), 4 and 124 of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The effect of the proposed Order would be that:
1. No person shall cause a vehicle to make a right-hand turn as directed in Schedule 1 to this Notice, for any purpose and at any time.

2. No person shall cause a vehicle to make a right-hand turn as directed in Schedule 2 to this Notice, except for local bus services.

SCHEDULE 2 - PROHIBITION OF RIGHT TURN, WITH AN EXEMPTION FOR LOCAL BUSES

Junction 14 (Llanddarog) No vehicle shall be permitted to turn right at Junction 14 (Llanddarog) from the
eastbound carriageway of the A48 Trunk Road to access the Class II Road (B4310) to
Llanddarog, except for local buses.

2026

NOTICE is hereby given that Carmarthenshire County Council, on behalf of the Welsh Ministers, proposes to make an Order under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to 2(3), 4 and 124 of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The effect of the proposed Order would be that no person shall cause any vehicle to make a ‘U’-turn manoeuvre in the lengths of road and in the direction specified in the Schedule to this Notice, for any purpose and at any time.

A48 Trunk Road to make a ‘U’-turn manoeuvre at Junction 14 (Llanddarog), so as to
proceed in the opposite westerly direction.
Junction 15
(Pant-y-ffynnon)
No person shall cause any vehicle proceeding along the westbound carriageway of the
A48 Trunk Road to make a ‘U’-turn manoeuvre at Junction 15 (Pant-y-ffynnon), so as to
proceed in the opposite easterly direction.
