What is happening?

Manchester City Council proposes to make the following Order:

CITY OF MANCHESTER (NEW BRIDGE STREET, DEANSGATE) (PROHIBITION OF WAITING, RESTRICTION OF WAITING, PROHIBITION OF LOADING/UNLOADING AND AMENDMENT) ORDER 2026 under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the proposed Order is as follows:

NO WAITING AT ANY TIME:
New Bridge Street: (i) the central island at the junction of Trinity Way (A6042) and New Bridge Street for its entire circumference, (ii) the north-west side from its junction with Trinity Way (A6042) in a south westerly direction for a distance of 17 metres.

NO WAITING MON-FRI 8AM-6PM AND SAT 8AM-12.30PM:
New Bridge Street: (i)the north-west side from a point 17 metres southwest of its junction with Trinity Way (A6042) to its boundary with the City of Salford, (ii) the south-east side from its junction with Mirabel Street in a south westerly direction to its boundary with the City of Salford.

NO LOADING AT ANY TIME:
New Bridge Street: (i) from its junction with Trinity Way (A6042) in a south westerly direction for a distance of 17 metres, (ii) the central island at the junction of Trinity Way (A6042) and New Bridge Street for its entire circumference. Existing Orders are to be amended so as to be consistent with the proposals.

A copy of the proposed Order together with the Statement of Reasons, the plan and a copy of the Order it is proposed to amend may be inspected by appointment at Customer Service Centre Ground Floor, Town Hall Extension, M60 2LA (for Sat. Nav. use M2 5DB) between hours of 9am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday. Please email or write into address below for a copy of documents. Objections to the proposals must be sent to me in writing to phlegal@ manchester.gov.uk or address below, stating grounds on which are made, no later than 21st September 2026.
