What is happening?

KIRKLEES COUNCIL
(TRAFFIC REGULATION) (CONSOLIDATION ORDER PROVIDING ON-STREET PARKING PLACES, WAITING, LOADING AND STOPPING RESTRICTIONS AND MIGRATION TO A ‘MAP-BASED’ FORMAT) ORDER 2024 (AMENDMENT NO. 13) ORDER 2025
BECK ROAD, ST JOHN’S ROAD & FITZWILLIAM STREET, HUDDERSFIELD

The Council of the Borough of Kirklees have made the above Order under their powers in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which, as it affects lengths of road in Huddersfield in the Kirklees district, will be as follows:-

1. To prohibit the waiting of vehicles at any time on lengths of the following roads:

i. St John’s Road, Huddersfield
ii. Beck Street, Huddersfield
iii. Fitzwilliam Street, Huddersfield

2. To prohibit the waiting of vehicles between the hours of 08:00 – 18:00, Monday to Saturday, on lengths of the following roads:-

i. St John’s Road, Huddersfield
ii. Beck Street, Huddersfield

3. To modify the existing restrictions against waiting (between 08:00 – 18:00 Monday to Saturday) on a length of St John’s Road contained in the Kirklees Council (Traffic Regulation) (Consolidation Order Providing On-Street Parking Places, Waiting, Loading and Stopping Restrictions and Migration to a ‘Map-Based’ Format) Order 2024

4. To revoke certain items in the Kirklees Council (Traffic Regulation) (Consolidation Order Providing On-Street Parking Places, Waiting, Loading and Stopping Restrictions and Migration to a ‘Map-Based’ Format) Order 2024 which will be redundant when certain parts of the restrictions referred to above are introduced

These revocations relate to the existing restrictions against waiting (between 08:00 – 18:00 Monday to Saturday) on lengths of St John’s Road and Beck Road and the existing restrictions against waiting at any time on lengths of Fitzwilliam Street
This Order was made on 18 August 2026 and will take effect on 26 August 2026.

Any person wishing to challenge the Order on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any requirements of that, or of any instrument made under it, have not been complied with may apply to the High Court within six weeks following 26 August 2026.
