(RESTRICTED BYWAY ROCDRUPP12 AT STONEY HEYS) PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER 2026

The above Order made on 20 August 2026 will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by:

The restricted byway RocDRupp12 commences at its junction with Road Lane, located 13 metres north-north-east of Whitworth Road at Grid Reference E388996 N415572. It proceeds generally north-east for 305 metres to its junction with Public Footpath RocDFp8 at Grid Reference E389289 N415645. The route then continues generally north-east for 336 metres, passing Stoney Heys Farm, Stoney Heys Cottage and Stoney Heys Barn, to its junction with Public Footpath RocDFp11 at Grid Reference E389517 N415888. It then proceeds east for 73 metres to its junction with Public Footpaths RocDFp10 and RocDFp16 at Grid Reference E389591 N415876.

The section of restricted byway to be diverted commences at Grid Reference E389393 N415780, being a point on Restricted Byway RocDRupp12 approximately 15 metres west of the westernmost corner of Stoney Heys Farm. From this point the diverted route proceeds north-west for 46 metres to Grid Reference E389364 N415812. It then turns north-east and continues for 214 metres to rejoin the existing alignment of Restricted Byway RocDRupp12 at Grid Reference E389514 N415890. The diverted route will have a width of 2.5 metres throughout and will run over a grassed field.

Plans showing the length of footpath to be closed may be viewed on the Council’s website and may be inspected free of charge at Number One Riverside, Smith Street, Rochdale, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, by appointment. To arrange an appointment, please contact the Council’s Legal Services team at legal.services@rochdale.gov.uk or by telephone on 01706 924000. Any representations about or objections to the Order may be sent in writing to the Assistant Director of Legal, Governance & Coroners, Rochdale Borough Council, Number One Riverside, Smith Street, Rochdale OL16 1XU (quoting reference SG/NBH001.150) not later than 23rd September 2026. Please state the grounds on which they are made.

If no representations or objections are duly made to the Order, or if any so made are withdrawn, Rochdale Borough Council, instead of submitting the Order to the Secretary of State, may itself confirm the Order. If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it.
