The Definitive Map and Statement of Public Rights of Way for the County of Lancashire
(PUBLIC FOOTPATH FROM HIGHER ROAD TO WELLBROW DRIVE, LONGRIDGE, RIBBLE VALLEY) DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER 2017
On the 15 January 2026 the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed the above Order.
The effect of the Order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement of Public Rights of Way for the area, by adding a Public Footpath varying in width between 0.80 metres and 3 metres from a point on Higher Road (at grid reference SD 6098 3758) running in a north westerly direction along a paved track between 71 and 71a Higher Road and continuing between garages and the boundary fences of 18 and 20 Wellbrow Drive to terminate at a junction with Wellbrow Drive at SD 6093 3763. The total length of the route is approximately 75 metres.
A copy of the Order and the Order Map may be seen free of charge at the offices of Ribble Valley Borough Council, and at my offices from 9am to 5pm on weekdays. Copies of the order and map may be bought there at the price of £1.00.

The Order took effect on the 15 January 2026, but if a person aggrieved by the Order desires to question the validity on the grounds that it is not within the powers of Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or that any of the requirements of Schedule 15 to the Act have not been complied with in relation to the Order, he may, under Paragraph 11 of Schedule 15 to the Act, within 42 days from the date of publication of this Notice, make an application for the purpose to the High Court.
