(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) NOTICE 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport proposes to make an Order not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to introduce a Temporary Prohibition of Driving at Belmont Way, South Reddish - From Wellington Road North to Harwood Street.
Diversion via Manchester Road, School Lane, Wellington Road North and vice versa. Dale Street, Edgeley - From Moscow Road to Robinson Street.
Diversion via Castle Street, Mercian Way, Shaw Heath, Gilmore Street, Range Road, Adswood Road, Stockholm Road, Petersburg Road. Outwood Road, Heald Green - Northbound - From Wilmslow Road to Cross Road.
Diversion via Outwood Road, Finney Lane, Wilmslow Road and vice versa. Southbound Cross Road, Bolshaw Road, Wilmslow Road and vice versa. St Petersgate/Market Place - From High Street to Market Hall.
East Diversion via High Street, Wellington Street, Church Gate, Market Place. West Diversion via Market Place, Churchgate, Wellington Street, Piccadilly, St Petersgate. Viscount Drive, Heald Green - 25m Approach to Outwood Road.

Southbound diversion via Exchange Street, Daw Bank, Rock Row, St Peters Square, Piccadilly and Edward Street Whitefield Road, Bredbury - First 25 metres - No diversion access only, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said roads.
This Order is necessary to allow road repair works to take place. It is estimated these works will last up to 3 weeks.
This Order is to come into operation on 4 September 2026 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period. Ref: JO/18234135/17
