What is happening?

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
WEST END ROAD/BAYNARD AVENUE/HALLGATE/WEST GREEN, COTTINGHAM

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any person from causing any vehicle to proceed along West End Road/Baynard Avenue/ Hallgate and West Green, Cottingham (junction of West End Road and Eppleworth Road), (junction between Hallgate and West Green), (junction between Finkle Street and West Green), (junction between Baynard Avenue and Southwood Road). The reason for the closure is to enable the proposed planned highway and footway works including resurfacing of the existing carriageway and the replacement of damaged kerbs and ironwork, to be carried out and completed in a manner consistent with ensuring the safety of the public.

It is anticipated that the works will be completed by Friday 2 October 2026. The alternative route for traffic affected by the Order is via Eppleworth Road, Green Lane, Castle Road, Southwood Road, South Street, Newgate Street, Thwaite Street, New Village Road, Northgate and West End Road. The Order will commence Monday 7 September 2026 between 18.00 hours and 00.00 hours and continue in force for a period not exceeding eighteen months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
