TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C691 BARTON ROAD, THURSTON
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the C691 Barton Road, Thurston from the level crossing for 10 metres northbound and 10 metres southbound to facilitate clearance of vegetation and structure examinations. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period. Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists. The diversion route will be Beyton Road, Thedwastre Road, Sandpit Lane, Norton Road, Station Hill and vice versa. It is intended that the closure will operate from 10pm on 26/08/2026 - 6am on 27/08/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister). Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the B1123 Halesworth Road, Chediston from The Old School for 380 metres eastbound to facilitate telecommunication pole testing. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period. Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists. The diversion route will be the B1123, the A144, the B1117, the B1116, B1123 and vice versa. It is intended that the closure will operate on 26/08/2026 from 9:30am – 3:30pm but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister). Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the: • C720 Mill Green, Edwardstone from the junction with Groton Street for 60 metres westbound • C720 Park Corner, Groton from the junction with Groton Street for 230 metres eastbound and • U8338 Groton Street, Groton from the junction with Park Corner to Wheelwright.
This is to facilitate spine cabling and fibre works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period. Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists. The diversion route will be Park Corner, Church Street, Swan Street, Sherbourne Street, Willow Corner, Mill Green and vice versa. It is intended that the closure will operate from 26/08/2026 - 28/08/2026 from 8am - 6pm but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister). Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the C430 Drinkstone Road, Gedding from 135 metres east of the junction with Bury Road for 400 metres eastbound to facilitate electrical works and tree trimming. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period. Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists. The diversion route will be Bury Road, Road between C695 and C427, Manor Road, The Green - Hessett, The Street - Hessett, Drinkstone Road - Hessett, Beyton Road, The Street - Drinkstone, Gedding Road, C430 from C429 to C659 and vice versa. It is intended that the closure will operate on 04/09/2026 from 8am – 6pm but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister). TEMPORARY CLOSURE AND SUSPENSION OF 7.5 TONNE WEIGHT RESTRICTION ON PART OF THE C495 LONDON ROAD AND SWAN HILL, COPDOCK AND COPDOCK AND WASHBROOK
Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the C495 London Road, Copdock from the junction with The Avenue for 500 metres northbound to facilitate the installation of road markings. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period. Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists. The diversion route will be London Road, Chapel Lane, Swan Hill, the A1071, the A1214, the A12 and vice versa. For the duration of this closure there will be a suspension of the 7.5 tonne weight restriction on the C495 Swan Hill, Copdock and Washbrook from Pigeons Lane, to The Street. It is intended that these measures will operate from 7.30pm on 04/09/2026 - 5am on 05/09/2026 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister). SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (HALESWORTH) (FOOTPATH 7) (TEMPORARY CLOSURE) ORDER 2024
This order, which came into effect on 14/03/2024 closing Footpath 7, Halesworth from Harrisons Lane to Footpath 16, Halesworth, has been extended in force by the Minister until 13/09/2027, or until the completion of the works, whichever is the earlier. This closure remains required in the interests of public safety to facilitate the construction of a new housing development. Without extension, the Order would have been in effect until 13/09/2026. The diversion route will be Harrisons Lane, Halesworth, Bungay Road, Holton, Footpath 8, Holton, Footpath 16, Holton and vice versa.
