THE A45 TRUNK ROAD AND M42 MOTORWAY
(BICKENHILL INTERCHANGE, SOLIHULL)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) intends to revoke an existing Order and make a new Order on the A45 Trunk Road and connecting roads, at Bickenhill, in the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull, to enable bridge demolition and construction and associated works to be carried out.
The effect of the Order will be to –
(1) close part of the circulatory carriageway of the roundabout junction of the A45, South Way and the M42 Junction 6 slip roads (Bickenhill Interchange), from its junction with the northbound carriageway of South Way, to its junction with the westbound carriageway of the A45;
(2) close the slip road leading to the northbound carriageway of the M42 at Junction 6;
(3) close the slip road leading from the southbound carriageway of the M42 at Junction 6;
(4) close the link road leading from South Way to the M42 Junction 6 northbound entry slip road;
(5) prohibit vehicles from entering Bickenhill Interchange at its junction with South Way;
(6) prohibit vehicles from leaving Bickenhill Interchange at its junction with the eastbound carriageway to the A45.
The work is expected to start on Friday 18 September 2026. The Order will come in to force on Thursday 17 September 2026 and continue for twenty-four hours per day until the works have finished.
Diversion routes via South Way, Pendigo Way and East Way will be signed.
