ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U6138 WINGS ROAD, LAKENHEATH

Suffolk County Council has made an Order closing the U6138 Wings Road, Lakenheath from the junction with Back Street for 30 metres eastbound to facilitate overhead cabling works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Wings Road, the B1112, Mill Road, Wings Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 25/08/2026 - 27/08/2026 but, if necessary, the Order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE B1123 METFIELD ROAD, MENDHAM

Suffolk County Council has made an Order closing the B1123 Metfield Road, Mendham from the junction with Sandpit Hill for 300 metres westbound to facilitate communication pole testing and tree cutting. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be the B1123, the B1117, the B1116 and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate on 25/08/2026 from 9.30am - 3.30pm but, if necessary, the Order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U8701 GAOL LANE, SUDBURY

Suffolk County Council has made an Order closing the U8701 Gaol Lane, Sudbury from number 49 to Grimwood Corner to facilitate waterworks. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Gaol Lane, Footway Between Market Hill and Gaol Lane, Market Hill, Burkitts Lane and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 25/08/2026 - 26/08/2026 but, if necessary, the Order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U8507 LAYHAM ROAD, SHELLEY

Suffolk County Council has made an Order closing the U8507 Layham Road, Shelley from the junction of the road from the C727 to the C473 for 50 metres northbound to facilitate the replacement of a telecommunications pole. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be the road from the C727 to the C473, Stoke Road, Shelley Road, Layham Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate on 25/08/2026 from 8am - 6pm but, if necessary, the Order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C504 FRESSINGFIELD ROAD, METFIELD

Suffolk County Council intends to make an Order closing the C504 Fressingfield Road, Metfield from The Chestnut for 240 metres eastbound to facilitate access to carriageway box to provide customer service. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Fressingfield Road, Metfield Road, Daisy Hill, Metfield Road, Cratfield Road, Low Road, the B1116, the B1123, Fressingfield Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate on 03/09/2026 from 9.30am - 3.30pm but, if necessary, the Order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (IPSWICH) (FOOTPATHS 18 AND 72) (TEMPORARY CLOSURE) ORDER 2024

This Order, which came into effect on 12/09/2024 closing Footpath 18, Ipswich, from Westerfield Road, Ipswich to Footpath 71, Ipswich and 225 metres northeast of Footpath 72, Ipswich for 75 metres north eastbound; and Footpath 72, Ipswich from Footpath 18, Ipswich to Footpath 71 has been extended in force by the Minister until 11/08/2027, or until the completion of the works, whichever is the earlier.

This closure remains required to facilitate the construction of a new housing development. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period. Without extension the Order would have been in effect until 11/09/2026.

The diversion route for Footpath 18 will be to the left of the footpath for 75 metres. The diversion route for Footpath 72 will be via Ipswich Footpath 18 and vice versa.

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (DISTRICT OF BABERGH) (STOPPING, WAITING AND LOADING PROHIBITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS AND ON-STREET PARKING PLACES)

(MAP-BASED) ORDER 2019 (PARISH OF SUDBURY) (UPPER EAST STREET (U8703)

PROHIBITION OF WAITING) (VARIATION NO.31) ORDER 2026

On 19/08/2026 Suffolk County Council made the above Order under Sections 1(1) and (2), 2(1) to (3), 4(2) and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which would substitute revision 0 of Map Tile GT67, in place of revision 1 of the same Map Tile, into the above-named 2019 Order. The effect of this would be to introduce: ‘No waiting at any time’ on:

• South side of Upper East Street (U8703), Sudbury, from the corner of no. 11 Upper East Street, in a south-easterly direction for a distance of approximately 8m

• North side of Upper East Street (U8703), Sudbury, from the corner of no. 11 Upper East Street, in a south-easterly direction for a distance of approximately 12m

• South side of Upper East Street (U8703), Sudbury, from the corner of no. 13 Upper East Street, in a north-westerly direction for a distance of approximately 1m

• North side of Upper East Street (U8703), Sudbury, from the corner of no. 13 Upper East Street, in a north-westerly direction for a distance of approximately 7m.

Exemptions to the waiting restrictions allow a vehicle to wait for so long as is necessary to board or alight or to load and unload for building, industrial or demolition works; for emergency services; for the maintenance of the road or its services; and for fulfilling statutory duties. There are the usual exemptions for Blue Badge holders.

A copy of the Order which comes into effect on 26/08/2026, may be seen with advance notice at the address below, 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday; also at Sudbury Library, Market Hill CO10 2EN between Monday: 9am - 5pm, Tuesday: 9am - 7.30pm Wednesday: 9am - 5pm, Thursday: 9am - 5pm, Friday: 9am - 5pm, Saturday: 9am - 5pm and Sunday: 10am - 4pm.

If anyone wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, or on the grounds that any of the requirements of that Act or any instrument made under it have not been complied with in relation to the Order, they may within six weeks of the date on which the Order was made apply to the High Court for this purpose.
