What is happening?

Notice is given that the Council of the City of Peterborough has made an Order pursuant to section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984:

The City of Peterborough Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic Order 2026 – 

Oundle Road, Wittering                                                    Ref: 27-185

The effect of which is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along the road known as Oundle Road, Wittering, at Bone Mill Farm. The Council is satisfied that traffic should be prohibited due to proposed works being executed on the above road. The alternative route for vehicles affected by this order is: Old Oundle Road, A47, A1, Townsend Road and vice versa. The proposed order will come into force on the 24/08/2026 and will continue until the meter exchange works have been completed or until the 23/08/2027, whichever is the earlier. Closure dates will be confirmed locally on site. It is anticipated that the works will take place between the 24/08/2026 and the 26/08/2026. Wellington Street                                                             Ref: 27-164

The effect of which is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along the road known as Wellington Street, westbound only, as lies between the junctions with St Johns Street and Pipe Lane. The Council is satisfied that traffic should be prohibited due to proposed works being executed on the above road. The alternative route for vehicles affected by this order is: Star Road, Padholme Road, Eastfield Road, St Johns Street. The proposed order will come into force on the 24/08/2026 and will continue until the gas main upgrade works have been completed or until the 23/08/2027, whichever is the earlier. Closure dates will be confirmed locally on site. It is anticipated that the works will take place between the 24/08/2026 and the 04/09/2026. Tallington Road, Bainton                                                   Ref: 27-136

The effect of which is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along the road known as Tallington Road, Bainton as lies between points 20 metres either side of Bainton Village Level Crossing. The Council is satisfied that traffic should be prohibited due to proposed works being executed on the above road. The alternative route for vehicles affected by this order is: via Tallington Road, B1443, A15, A1175, Bainton Road and vice versa. The proposed Order will come into force on the 26/08/2026 and will continue until the railway level crossing maintenance works have been completed or until the 25/08/2027, whichever is the earlier. Closure dates will be confirmed locally on site. It is anticipated that the works will take place overnight only between 23:00 and 05:00 on both the

Green Lane                                                                       Ref: 27-194

The effect of which is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along the road known as Green Lane, at its junction with Dogsthorpe Road. The Council is satisfied that traffic should be prohibited due to proposed works being executed on the above road. There is no alternative route for vehicles affected by this order, access will be maintained. The proposed order will come into force on the 01/09/2026 and will continue until the electrical link box installation works have been completed or until the 31/08/2026, whichever is the earlier. Closure dates will be confirmed locally on site. It is anticipated that the works will take place between the 01/09/2026 and the 04/09/2026. The effect of which is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along the road known as Eyebury Road, at 49. The Council is satisfied that traffic should be prohibited due to proposed works being executed on the above road. The alternative route for vehicles affected by this order is: Eyebury Road, Oxney Road, Parnwell Way, Paston Parkway, A47, Crowland Road and vice versa. The proposed order will come into force on the 30/08/2026 and will continue until the gas and electrical duct installation works have been completed or until the 29/08/2027, whichever is the earlier.
