Buckinghamshire - Multiple Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

BUCKINGHAMSHIRE COUNCIL

THE COUNCIL HAS MADE

(Public Footpath No. 149/1, Parish of High Wycombe) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2026 under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will temporarily prohibit any person from proceeding, except for access, in that length of Public Footpath commencing at the junction of HWU/71(F)/1 and HWU/149/1 continuing east for approx. 135M. Alternative route is via existing public highway network. The closure is required to enable development and maintaining power to the Wycombe Hospital. The Order will come into operation on 14 August 2026, as signed, with a maximum duration of 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the soonest.

(Unmetalled Unclassified County Road No. U267, Hawridge Lane, Cholesbury) (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) Order 2026 under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will temporarily prohibit any persons from proceeding, except for access, in that length of Hawridge Lane, Cholesbury, Unmetalled Unclassified County Road No. U267, from 14/08/2026 to 14/02/2026. The closure is required in the interest of public safety due to erosion. The alternative route is via existing highway. The proposed Order will come into operation on 14 August 2026, as signed, with a maximum duration of 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the soonest. Penalties for not observing these restrictions will be as prescribed by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Road Traffic Act 1991.

THE COUNCIL INTENDS TO MAKE

(Public Footpath No. 96/1, Parish of Hughenden) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2026 under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will temporarily prohibit any person from proceeding, except for access, in that length of Public Footpath commencing at the junction of HUG/FP/96/1 & Royal Oak Mews, continuing east for approximately 80M to the junction of Oak Mews. Alternative route is via existing highway. The closure is required for public safety whilst works are occurring to re-surface the path. The Order will come into operation on 21 August 2026, as signed, with a maximum duration of 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the soonest.

(Public Bridleway No. 56/1, Parish of Chenies) (Temporary Bridleway Closure) Order 2026 under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will temporarily prohibit any person from proceeding, except for access, in that length of Public Bridleway commencing at the junction of CHE/56/1, CHE/59/1 & Chenies Hill, continuing west for approximately 370M to the junction of CHE/56/3 and CHE/56/1. The closure is required in the interest of public safety whilst remedial works take place forming the Chess Valley Walk. Alternative route for pedestrians follows CHE/59/1. There is no suitable alternative route for horses. The proposed Order will come into operation on 1 September 2026, as signed, with a maximum duration of 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the soonest.

(Public Footpath No. 37/1, Parish of High Wycombe) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2026 under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will temporarily prohibit any person from proceeding, except for access, in that length of Public Footpath No. 37/1, from the junction of Public Footpath No. 37/1 and Crendon Street, continuing east for approx. 90M to the junction with Station Approach. The Alternative route is a diversion set up around the Brunel Railway Shed. The closure is required to allow the planned demolition of Easton Street Carpark in which scaffolding will be required on Birdcage Walk to facilitate the demolition. The Order will come into operation on 1 September 2026, as signed, with a maximum duration of 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the soonest.

(Public Footpath No. 4A/3, Parish of Turville) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2026 under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will temporarily prohibit any person from proceeding, except for access, in that length of Public Footpath No. 4A/3, approx. 10M east from the junction of TUV/4A/2, TUV/5/1 & TUV/4A/3 and continuing east for approx. 45M along TUV/4A/3. The Alternative route is set to take walkers south for approx. 40M then east 60M and then north to join back to the path. The closure is required to facilitate works associated with the approved planning application PL/25/3837/FA. The Order will come into operation on 1 September 2026, as signed, with a maximum duration of 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the soonest.

Notice of Modification Order, Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, The Buckinghamshire Council Definitive Map and Statement, The Buckinghamshire Council (Public Footpath between Public Footpath No.5 and No.9, Parish of Chesham) Definitive Map Modification Order 2026 made on 11 August 2026, if confirmed as made, will modify the definitive map and statement for the area by adding to them the footpath from SP94974-02009 SSW for 106M to SP94953-01905 with a width of 3M throughout. Copies of the Order and map may be purchased from the Council at a cost of £5.00 by writing to the Definitive Map Team at the address given below. Any representation or objection relating to the Order must be sent in writing to the Definitive Map and Highway Searches Team, Buckinghamshire Council, Walton Street Offices, Walton Street, Aylesbury, HP20 1UA or email row@buckinghamshire.gov.uk not later than 2 October 2026, and applicants are requested to state the grounds on which it is made. If no representations or objections are duly made to the Order, or if any so made are withdrawn, Buckinghamshire Council, instead of submitting the Order to the Secretary of State, may itself confirm the Order. If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it. Under the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985 this Council is obliged to make any representations received in response to this notice, open to public inspection.
