GORCHYMYN TRAFFORDD YR M4 (CYFFYRDD 23A I 23 (MAGWYR, SIR FYNWY)) (CYFYNGIADAU A GWAHARDDIADAU DROS DRO) 202-

MAE GWEINIDOGION CYMRU yn bwriadu gwneud Gorchymyn o dan adran 14 o Ddeddf Rheoleiddio Traffig Ffyrdd 1984 ymhen dim llai na 7 niwrnod i ddyddiad yr Hysbysiad hwn. Mae angen y Gorchymyn arfaethedig er mwyn gwneud gwaith ar draffordd yr M4, neu gerllaw iddi, rhwng Cyffordd 23 a Chyffordd 23A, ym Magwyr, Sir Fynwy.

Effaith y Gorchymyn arfaethedig fydd gosod gwaharddiad dros dro ar gerbydau neu derfyn cyflymder dros dro o 50 mya, 40 mya, 30 mya neu 10 mya ar y darnau o draffordd yr M4 a ddisgrifir yn yr Atodlen i’r Hysbysiad hwn. Disgwylir y bydd y terfyn cyflymder o 10 mya yn gymwys yn ystod gwaith confoi ac ni chaniateir goddiweddyd ar yr adegau hyn.

Daw’r Gorchymyn i rym ar 1 Medi 2026. Disgwylir y bydd y gwaharddiad a’r cyfyngiadau dros dro yn weithredol yn ysbeidiol, dros nos yn unig, (20:00 o’r gloch – 06:00 o’r gloch) o 1 Medi 2026 hyd 1 Hydref 2026 neu am gyfnod o 18 mis ar y mwyaf. Bydd hysbysiad o waharddiadau yn cael ei arddangos ar y darnau penodedig o’r draffordd.

    1. Y darn o gerbytffordd tua’r gorllewin traffordd yr M4 sy’n ymestyn o’r ffordd ymuno wrth Gyffordd 23 i’r ffordd ymuno wrth Gyffordd 23A ym Magwyr, Sir Fynwy.

  1. Y darn o gerbytffordd tua’r dwyrain traffordd yr M4 sy’n ymestyn o’r ffordd ymadael wrth Gyffordd 23A (Magwyr) i’r ffordd ymadael wrth Gyffordd 23 ar gyfer yr M48 Sir Fynwy.

Y llwybr arall tra bo’r ffordd ar gau

Bydd traffig sy’n teithio tua’r dwyrain yn cael ei ddargyfeirio oddi ar yr M4 wrth Gyffordd 24 i’r A449 i Raglan, yn ymuno â’r A40 ac yn parhau tan Gylchfan Rudhall i ymuno â’r M50. Parhau hyd at Twyning, ymuno â’r M5 tua’r de hyd at Gyffordd 15 yr M5 i fynd tua’r dwyrain, neu fynd i’r gorllewin ar yr M4 ymadael wrth Gyffordd 21 ar gyfer yr A48 i Gyffordd 2 Cas-gwent.

I’r gwrthwyneb ar gyfer traffig sy’n teithio tua’r gorllewin.

Canlyniad arall cau cyffyrdd 23 – 23a o’r M4 yw cau’r M48 tua’r gorllewin o gyffordd 2. Dylai traffig sy’n teithio tua’r gorllewin sydd am ymuno â’r M4 wrth gyffordd 23 ddilyn y llwybr arall a nodir uchod ar gyfer traffig sy’n teithio tua’r gorllewin.

THE M4 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 23 TO 23A (MAGOR, MONMOUTHSHIRE)) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS AND PROHIBITIONS) ORDER 202-

THE WELSH MINISTERS propose, in not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which is necessary to undertake works on or near the M4 motorway between Junction 23 and Junction 23A at Magor, Monmouthshire.

The effect of the proposed Order will be to impose a temporary prohibition of vehicles or a temporary speed limit of 50 mph, 40 mph, 30 mph or 10 mph on the lengths of the M4 Motorway described in the Schedule to this Notice. The 10 mph speed limit is expected to apply during convoy working and no overtaking will be permitted at these times.

The Order will come into force on 1 September 2026. The temporary restrictions and prohibition are expected to operate intermittently, overnight only, (20:00 hours – 06:00 hours) from 1 September 2026 until 1 October 2026 or for a maximum duration of 18 months. Notice of prohibitions will be displayed on the specified lengths of the motorway.

SCHEDULE

    1. The length of the westbound carriageway of the M4 motorway that extends from the on-slip road at Junction 23 to the on-slip road at Junction 23A at Magor, Monmouthshire.

  1. The length of the eastbound carriageway of the M4 motorway that extends from the off-slip road at Junction 23A (Magor) to the off-slip road at Junction 23 for the M48 Monmouthshire.

Alternative route for closure

Eastbound traffic will be diverted off the M4 at Junction 24 onto the A449 to Raglan, merge with the A40 and continue until Rudhall Roundabout to join the M50. Continue until Twyning, join the M5 southbound until Junction 15 of the M5 to proceed eastbound, or head west on the M4 exiting at Junction 21 for the A48 to Junction 2 Chepstow.

Vice versa for westbound traffic.

The closure of junctions 23 – 23a of the M4 has the additional consequence of closing the M48 westbound from junction 2. Westbound traffic seeking to join the M4 at junction 23 should follow the alternative route noted above for westbound traffic.
