Arundel Street - Temporary Road Closure

Portsmouth City Council (Arundel Street) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.151) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 7th September 2026 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
ARUNDEL STREET

From its junction with Fratton Road to its junction with Murfield Road.
CLIFTON STREET
From its junction with Arundel Street to its junction with Coburg Street.
SANDRINGHAM ROAD
From its junction with Fratton Road for 10 metres.
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate works for bus stop buildouts and planters.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 7th September 2026 to 23rd October 2026 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above, works will take place in sections as notified by signage and letters to residents in advance of works taking place.
D) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from:
Arundel Street - Fratton Road, Lake Road, Lake Road Roundabout, Holbrook Road, Arundel Street Roundabout, Arundel Street and Arundel Street - Fratton Road, Fratton Bridge Roundabout, Victoria Road North, Bradford Junction Roundabout, Holbrook Road;
Clifton Street - Fratton Road, Arundel Street and vice versa;
Sandringham Road - Fratton Road, Sandringham Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
