ST. HELENS BOROUGH COUNCIL ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 (as Amended) - SECTION 14(1)

THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF ST. HELENS (TAMWORTH STREET AND MARKET STREET, NEWTON LE WILLOWS) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF RIGHT TURNS) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 7th day of August, 2026, the St. Helens Borough Council made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as Amended), the effect of which will be that no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to proceed right along the roads listed in schedule 1, as and when directed by road traffic signs on-site.

Road Name Extents
Market Street No right turn from Stanley Street
Tamworth Street No right turn from bus station

The Order came into force on Monday 3rd August 2026, and will have a maximum duration of eighteen months, but will terminate on completion of the works, which is expected to be 15 days. The alternative route will be via Tamworth Street and Lord Street.

The reason for making this Order is to facilitate new lighting protection being installed to the town hall using a MEWP.
