Croydon - Multiple Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Utility Works
What is happening?
THE LONDON BOROUGH OF CROYDON
Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 And All Other Enabling Powers Stanley Road & London Road, Croydon Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic
1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate cable installation work on behalf of UKPN, they have made an Order, the effect of which would be to temporarily prohibit traffic movements in Stanley Road and London Road, Croydon.
2. During the work:
a) Stanley Road will be closed at its junction with London Road.
b) The cycle lane on the west (odd-numbered) side of London Road will be closed between the common boundary of Nos. 433 and 435 London Road and its junction with Stanley Road.
c) The footway on the west (odd-numbered) side of London Road will be closed between the common boundary of Nos. 433 and 435 London Road and its junction with Stanley Road.
3. Whilst the closure of Stanley Road remains in force the diversion route for vehicles will be via London Road, Canterbury Road, York Road and Stanley Road. During the cycle lane closure cyclists will be diverted into the main carriageway. Pedestrians affected by the footway closure will be diverted via a walkway in the cycle lane.
4. The Order will come into operation on 24 August 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed on 28 August 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required. The prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such an extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
5. The restrictions shall not apply in respect of:
(a) any vehicle or person involved in conducting the said work.
(b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 And All Other Enabling Powers Thirle Road Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic
1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate gas connection and service renewal works by SGN, they have made an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily prohibit traffic movements in The Bridle Road, Purley.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place the entire length of The Bridle Road will be closed.
3. During the closure the diversion routes for vehicular traffic will be as detailed below.
- Via Foxley Lane and Plough Lane.
- Via Plough Lane, Peaks Hill and Peaks Hill Rise.
4. The Order will come into operation on 24 August 2026, and it is anticipated that the works will be completed on 21 September 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required. The prohibition will only apply during such times and to such extents as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
5. The restriction shall not apply in respect of:
(a) a vehicle involved in carrying out the said works.
(b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity, or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 And All Other Enabling Powers Tollers Lane, Coulsdon Road, Coulsdon Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic
1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate gas governor replacement works by SGN, they have made an Order the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic movements in Tollers Lane and Coulsdon Road.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place:
(a) Tollers Lane will be closed to vehicular traffic between its junction with Coulsdon Road and a point 30 metres southwest of that junction.
(b) The southwestern (even-numbered side) footway of Coulsdon Road will be closed to pedestrians between a point opposite the common boundary of Nos. 217 and 219 Coulsdon Road and a point opposite the common boundary of Nos. 203 and 205 Coulsdon Road.
3. During the closure, the alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via Coulsdon Road, Lacey Avenue, and Tollers Lane. Pedestrians will be diverted to the opposite footway.
4. The Order will come into operation on 24 August 2026, and it is anticipated that the works will be completed on 02 October 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
5. The restrictions shall not apply in respect of:
(a) any vehicle or person involved in carrying out the said work.
(b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.

1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate gas connection works, they have made an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict traffic and parking in Westow Street, Upper Norwood.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place,
a) Westow Street will be closed between its junctions with Coxwell Road and Canberry Road.
b) Parking and loading bays in Westow Street between its junctions with Central Hill and Coxwell Road will be suspended and waiting and loading restrictions will apply at any time.
c) The south-western footway of Westow Street will be closed opposite its junction with Victory Place.
d) One-way working in Westow Street will be suspended to allow two-way traffic.
3. Whilst the closure remains in force the alternative routes for diverted vehicular traffic will be as detailed below. Pedestrians will be diverted to the opposite footway.
- Diversion A: Via South Norwood Hill, Beulah Hill, Crown Dale, and Central Hill.
- Diversion B: Church Road join Diversion A.
4. The Order will come into operation on 24 August 2026, and it is anticipated that the works will be carried out in seven days. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
5. These restrictions shall not apply in respect of:
a) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes.
b) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a civil enforcement officer.
c) a vehicle being used for the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity, or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended And The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 Bennetts Avenue & Bennetts Way, Croydon Temporary Restriction Of Traffic
1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate works on behalf of SGN, they intend to make an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict traffic at the junction of Bennetts Avenue and Bennetts Way, Croydon.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place, the junction of Bennetts Avenue with Bennetts Way will be closed.
3. During the work the diversion route for traffic will be via Temple Avenue, Shirley Way, East Way and reversed.
4. The Order will come into operation on 07 September 2026, and it is anticipated that the works will be completed on 12 October 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
5. The restrictions shall not apply in respect of:
(a) any vehicle involved in conducting the said work.
(b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
