Croydon - Disabled Parking Place Changes & Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Various Works

Disabled Persons Parking Places – Schedule 257 - The Croydon (Prohibition and Restriction of Stopping, Loading and Waiting) and (Free Parking Places) - (Amendment No. H24) Order 20– The Croydon (On-Street Charged-For Parking Places) - (Amendment No. H25) Order 20–
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Croydon Council proposes to make the above Traffic Orders under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended and all other enabling powers.
1. The general effect of the Orders would be to:
a) Revoke the disabled parking places in the vicinity of: No. 54 Biggin Hill, Upper Norwood, No. 72 Cecil Road, Croydon, No. 77 Estcourt Road, South Norwood, No. 23 Highbarrow Road, Croydon, No. 60 Longhurst Road, Croydon, No. 60 Priory Road, Croydon, No. 2 South Drive, Coulsdon, No. 26 The Drive, Coulsdon, No. 25 Waverley Road, South Norwood, and No. 33 Woodside Road, South Norwood.
b) Designate new parking places at which vehicles displaying a disabled persons’ badge may be left without charge or time limit in the following locations.

2. A copy of the proposed Orders and all related documents can be inspected Monday to Friday inclusive, until the last day of a period of six weeks beginning with the date on which the Orders are made or, as the case may be, the Council decides not to make the Orders, between 10:00am and 6:00pm, at Croydon Central Library, Katharine Street, CR9 1ET. Alternatively, all related documents or further information can be requested by email to: Parking.Design@croydon.gov.uk.
3. Persons desiring to object to the proposed Orders should send a statement in writing of their objection and the grounds thereof to: The Parking Design Section, 3rd Floor, Zone C, Bernard Weatherill House, 8 Mint Walk, Croydon, CR0 1EA, or by emailing the Parking Design Team (email address above) quoting the Reference: PD/CH/H24 & H25 by 10 September 2026.

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended And The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 Altyre Road, Croydon - Notice Of Temporary Restriction Of Traffic & Parking
1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate a crane operation to move panes of glass to and from Altitude Apartments, Altyre Road, they have made an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict traffic and parking in Altyre Road.
2. Whilst the said works are taking place:
a) Altyre Road will be closed to vehicular traffic between its junctions with Hazeldean Road and Barclay Road.
b) Parking bays in Altyre Road between its junction with Barclay Road and the vehicular entrance to the former Croydon Park Hotel will be suspended and waiting and loading restrictions will apply at any time.
c) The eastern footway of Altyre Road (outside Altitude Apartments) will be closed between its junction with Barclay Road and a point 20.5 metres north of that junction.
3. During the closure the alternative routes for vehicular traffic will be as detailed below. Pedestrians affected by the footway closure will be directed to the opposite footway.
- Via Fairfield Road, Addiscombe Grove, and Hazledean Road.
- Via Hazledean Road and Addiscombe Road.
- Via Addiscombe Grove and Hazledean Road.
4. The Order will come into operation on 22 August 2026, and it is anticipated that works will be carried out over two weekends (22 and 23, and 29 and 30 August 2026). However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.
5. The restrictions shall not apply in respect of:
(a) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(b) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.
(c) any vehicle or person involved in carrying out the specified works.

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 And All Other Enabling Powers Brighton Road, Purley Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic
1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate cable installation work on behalf of UKPN, they have made an Order, the effect of which would be to temporarily prohibit traffic movements in Brighton Road, Purley.
2. During the work:
a) The cycle lane on the south-east (odd-numbered) side of Brighton Road will be closed opposite Badgers Mount, Brighton Road.
b) The footway on the south-east (odd-numbered) side of Brighton Road will be closed opposite Badgers Mount, Brighton Road.
3. Whilst the cycle lane closure remains in force cyclists will be diverted into the main carriageway. Pedestrians affected by the footway closure will be diverted via a walkway in the cycle lane.
4. The Order will come into operation on 25 August 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed on 27 August 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required. The prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such an extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
5. The restrictions shall not apply in respect of:
(a) any vehicle or person involved in conducting the said work.
(b) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.
