PUBLIC FOOTPATH NO. BCC/488 (PT)
PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER (NO.9) 2026

The above named order, made on the 18 August 2026 under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 will divert the public footpath running from:

• that part of Public Footpath BCC/488 at Lakemead Grove Sports Ground, Bishopsworth Ward, in the City of Bristol, which runs from its junction with Public Footpath BCC/491 at the south-eastern edge of Lakemead Grove Sports Ground at grid reference 356896 168658 in a north-westerly direction through woodland for approximately 102 metres to the existing path on the north-eastern side of the sports ground at grid reference 356826 168730 to a line running from:

• that part of Public Footpath BCC/488 at Lakemead Grove Sports Ground, Bishopsworth Ward, in the City of Bristol, which runs from its junction with Public Footpath BCC/491 at the south-eastern edge of Lakemead Grove Sports Ground at grid reference 356896 168658 in a north-westerly direction across the sports ground following the surfaced path for approximately 104 metres, continuing on the existing footpath on the north-eastern side of the sports ground at grid reference 356826 168730, with a width of approximately 1.5 metres throughout. and will also divert the public footpath running from:

• that part of Public Footpath BCC/488 at Ellfield Close and Ilex Close, Bishopsworth Ward, in the City of Bristol, which runs from a point adjacent to Ellfield Close at grid reference 356863 168787 in a north-easterly direction towards Ilex Close for approximately 46 metres to grid reference 356898 168816, then continues in a north-westerly direction for approximately 67 metres to its junction with Sandburrows Road at grid reference 356855 168866, being a total distance of approximately 113 metres to a line running from:

• that part of Public Footpath BCC/488 at Ellfield Close, Bishopsworth, in the City of Bristol, which runs from a point adjacent to Ellfield Close in a northerly and north-westerly direction to its junction with Sandburrows Road at grid reference 356817 168850, for approximately 80 metres, with a width of approximately 1.5 metres throughout

The order is also made under Section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (the 1981 Act) because it appears to the authority that the City Council of Bristol definitive map and statement require modification in consequence of the occurrence of an event specified in section 53(3)(a)(i) of the 1981 Act, namely the diversion of a highway shown or required to be shown in the map and statement. 

A copy of the order and the order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at the offices of Bristol City Council, City Hall, Bristol BS1 5TR, during normal office hours. Copies of the order and map may be bought there at a price of 30p. Copies of the order and order map may be sent by second class post on receipt of a written request at a price of £6 to cover the Council’s administrative costs.

Any representations about or objections to the order may be sent in writing to the Service Director, Legal and Democratic Services, City Hall, PO Box 3300, Bristol BS1 9LN, quoting reference LEG/ DB3/23920764, not later than 2 October 2026. Please state the grounds on which they are made.

If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, Bristol City Council may confirm the order as an unopposed order. If the order is sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment Food and Rural Affairs for confirmation any representations or objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the order.
