(GAINSBOROUGH AVENUE AREA, SOUTH SHIELDS) ORDER 2026
On 19 August 2026 South Tyneside Council made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The Order which comes into operation on 24 August 2026 will :-
REVOKE No Waiting and No Loading Mon to Fri 8am-9.30am and 3pm-4pm on Gainsborough Ave east side from a point 60m from the southern kerb line of Nevinson Ave for 30m in a southerly direction and from a point 91m south of its junction with Nevinson Ave in a southerly direction for 29m and west side from its junction with Rubens Ave in a northerly direction for 16m and from its junction with Rubens Ave in a southerly direction for 10m; Nash Ave both sides from its junction with Gainsborough Ave in an easterly direction for 12m and Rubens Ave north side from its junction with Gainsborough Ave in a westerly direction for 11m and south side from its junction with Gainsborough Ave to its junction with Reynolds Ave. No Waiting Mon to Fri 8am-9.30am and 3pm-4pm on Nash Ave north-west side from a point 41m east of its junction with Gainsborough Ave in a north-easterly direction for 12m. No Loading Mon to Fri 8am-9.30am and 3pm-4pm on Nash Ave north-west side from a point 41m east of its junction with Gainsborough Ave in a north-easterly direction for 14m.
INTRODUCE No Waiting At Any Time and No Loading/Unloading At Any Time on :- Gainsborough Ave east side from a point 90m south of its junction with Nevinson Ave to a point 31m south of its junction with Nash Ave and west side from a point 50m south of its junction with Nevinson Ave to a point 28m south of its junction with Rubens Ave; Nash Ave both sides from its junction with Gainsborough Ave for 8m in an easterly direction and Rubens Ave both sides from its junction with Gainsborough Ave for 12m in a westerly direction. No Waiting and No Loading Mon to Fri 8am-9.30am and 3pm-4pm on Gainsborough Ave east side from a point 17m south of its junction with Nevinson Ave for 72.5m in a southerly direction and west side from a point 17m south of its junction with Nevinson Ave for 33.5m in a southerly direction and from a point 12m south of its junction with Rubens Ave for 41.5m in a southerly direction; Rubens Ave north side from a point 12m west of its junction with Gainsborough Ave for 73m in a westerly direction and south side from a point 12m west of its junction with Gainsborough Ave to its junction with Reynolds Ave. No Waiting Mon to Fri 8am-9.30am and 3pm-4pm on Reynolds Ave east side from its junction with Rubens Ave for 31m in a southerly direction.
Full details are contained in the Order, which, together with a plan showing the lengths of road affected and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order, may be inspected from Monday to Friday between 10am and 2pm at the Town Hall, Westoe Road, South Shields, NE33 2RL. Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any of the requirements of the Act or of any relevant regulations made under the Act have not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from 19 August 2026 when the Order was made, make an application for that purpose to the High Court.
