What is happening?
THE PORTSMOUTH CITY COUNCIL
(NEW ROAD) (PARKING PLACES)
ORDER 2026 (Ref: P055-25)
1. Notice is hereby given that the Portsmouth City Council made the above Order on 19 August 2026. The effect of the Order will be:
a. To introduce time limited parking of 1 hour no return within 1 hour, 8am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday in New Road, north side, from the double yellow lines east of junction with Northgate Avenue in an easterly direction for a distance of 15 metres partially in place of GD Zone permit holder bay.
PLEASE NOTE: There are no exemptions to this restriction for permit holders of the GD resident permit parking zone scheme.
2. Copies of the made Order, Statement of Reasons and Map are available to view on Portsmouth City Council’s website: Search 'Traffic Regulation Orders 2026" at
Alternatively, they can be viewed at the Civic Offices, Guildhall Square, PO1 2AL, Monday to Friday between 9am - 4pm. Printed copies can be obtained by calling 023 9260 6480.
3. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant enabling Act, or that a requirement of any such enabling Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with, may, within 6 weeks from the date of the Order, make application for this purpose to the High Court.
4. This Order comes into operation on 22 August 2026.
