What is happening?
CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE (NORTH VIEW AREA B) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne intend, not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit any pedestrians to proceed on;
i. Tynemouth Grove Footpath, between Tynemouth Way Footpath and Tynemouth Road.
ii. North Close West Footpath, between North Close and Chillingham Court Footpath,
iii. Tynemouth Way South Footpath, between Tynemouth Way West Footpath and Elvet Close West Footpath,
iv. Elvet Close West Footway, between Tynemouth Way South Footpath and Elvet Close South Footway,
v. Elvet Close South Footway, for its entire length,
vi. Elvet Close North Footpath, between Denmark Street and Elvet Court, and
vii. Elvet Way Footpath, for its entire length.
2. The alternative route for traffic will be signed on site as required.
3. The order is required to allow works to be carried out on or near the highway.
4. The Order will come into operation on 21 September 2026 and will continue as and when relevant traffic signs are displayed, up to 31 July 2027 or until the works are completed, whichever is earlier.
