On 24 July 2026 an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed the above-named Order without modification under Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, and which takes effect on that date.
The effect of the Order, confirmed as made, is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for Chichester by the addition of a footpath commencing from Cinders Lane (grid reference 498115, 102743) with a width of 1.5m proceeding in a south-easterly direction for a distance of 236.35m to where it meets footpath 166 (grid reference 498165, 102512).
A copy of the Order and the Order Plan may be seen free of charge at Legal Services, WSCC, County Hall, Chichester, PO19 1RQ, at Arun District Council and at Yapton Parish Council during opening hours. A copy of the Order and Plan may be purchased for £8.00 from Legal Services, West Sussex County Council by emailing legal.services@westsussex.gov.uk (quote ref: CC803.15569). If any person aggrieved by the Order desires to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or that any of the requirements of Schedule 15 of the Act have not been complied with in relation to it, they may, under paragraph 12 (i) of Schedule 15 to the Act, within 42 days from 20 August 2026, make an application to the High Court.
