THE M1 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 12) SLIP ROADS

(TEMPORARY 30 MILES PER HOUR SPEED RESTRICTION) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited(a) has made an Order on the M1 Motorway in Bedfordshire to enable traffic signal renewal works to be carried out in safety. The works will take place over approximately  5 months starting on or after Tuesday  1 September 2026.

The effect of the Order will be to impose for 

24 hours daily, a temporary speed limit of 30 miles per hour on the northbound and southbound entry and exit slip roads at the M1 Junction 12, Toddington.

The temporary mandatory speed limit (which will not apply to emergency service or special force vehicles) will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. The Order will come into force on 24 August 2026 and may continue in force until the works detailed above have been completed, or for a maximum duration of 18 months, whichever is the earlier.
