What is happening?

MANCHESTER CITY COUNCIL
TEMPORARY ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 14 (AS AMENDED)

Notice is hereby given that the City Council intends, in not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make the following Temporary Road Traffic Order:

ORDER NO. MCC 151808697: The City of Manchester (Francis Street, Cheetham Ward) (Temporary Prohibition of Vehicular Traffic) Order 2026 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order is to prohibit vehicular traffic on Francis Street from Newcombe Street to it's cul-de sac end. The City Council is satisfied that this prohibition is necessary in order to facilitate development works. It is expected that the works will be in progress from 1st September 2026 to 21st May 2027. The order shall come into operation on 1st September 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of eighteen months. If all necessary works are completed within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period. Dated: 22nd August 2026.

ORDER NO. MCC000 151832770: The City of Manchester (Portland Street, Deansgate Ward) (Temporary Closure of Bus Lane) Order 2026under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order is to prohibit any bus, taxi or pedal cycle from proceeding at any time in the following length of bus lane: Portland Street between Dickinson Street and Princess Street. The City Council is satisfied that this prohibition is necessary in order to facilitate a new fibre installation. It is expected that the works will be in progress on Sunday's Only between 6th September 2026 & 20th September 2026. The order shall come into operation on 6th September 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of eighteen months. If all necessary works are completed within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
