(Consolidation) Order 2022 (Variation No.35) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that North Somerset Council propose to make an order in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The general effect of which will be to amend the North Somerset Council (Prohibition of Stopping, Waiting, Loading and Parking Places) (Consolidation) Order 2022, to include parking restrictions in Winscombe. The extent of the proposals are described in the Schedule to this notice.

Full details of the proposals are contained in the draft Order which, together with the plans and a Statement of the council’s reason for proposing to make the Order, may be inspected at www.n-somerset.gov.uk/tro or at Winscombe Library, Woodborough Road, Winscombe BS25 1AB (during normal opening hours). Should you wish to make any observations on this proposal (whether you support or object to the proposal) you should make them in writing to David Bailey, Lead Engineer, Environment Assets & Transport Services, North Somerset Council, Town Hall, Weston-super-Mare BS23 1UJ or email traffic.orders@n-somerset.gov.uk quoting reference PSWLP/DB/2630 by 5pm on Friday 11 September 2026. Notice is hereby given that North Somerset Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, intend to make an order the effect of which:

Canada Coombe, Hutton, North Somerset

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Traffic Order 2026

Date coming Into Force: 7 September 2026

Will be to close, temporarily, to all traffic including pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access, works vehicles and as works permit for premises which may only be accessed via the closed section of road.

This order is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Ward Tree Surgeons to remove hazardous ash trees under Section 171 licence. This order will become operative on the 7 September 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of 12 days in duration. Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access, works vehicles and as works permit for premises which may only be accessed via the closed section of road.

This order is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Wales & West Utilities to replace gas mains. This order will become operative on the 4 January 2027 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of 26 days in duration. The commencement dates of the closures are approximate and subject to the progression of the works. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Schedule - Bleadon Hill over the railway bridge (4 January 2027 to 17 January 2027), Bleadon Hill at the junction with Leighton Crescent (18 January 2027 to 29 January 2027), Leighton Crescent at the junction with Bleadon Hill for approximately 20m (18 January 2027 to 29 January 2027). This order came into force on 23 February 2026 for a maximum period of six months & was required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Allison Homes for archaeology investigation and excavation for a proposed development (subject to planning consent). The Secretary of State has now granted a further extension of the said Order until 24 August 2028. Appropriate pedestrian traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.
