THE DERBYSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (WILLERSLEY LANE, MATLOCK & CROMFORD) (40MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that, on the 13th Day of August 2026 Derbyshire County Council made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Order will come into operation on the 24th Day of August 2026 and its effect is:
TO INTRODUCE A 40MPH SPEED LIMIT:
Willersley Lane, Matlock & Cromford
From a point 230 metres North-East of its junction with Mill Road in a Northerly direction for a distance of 880 metres
Exemptions have been made for vehicles being used for Police, Fire Brigade or Ambulance purposes or any vehicle falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemption (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations.
A copy of the Order and documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order are available for inspection at the County Council’s principal offices known as County Hall on Smedley Street in Matlock, Matlock Library, Steep Turnpike, Matlock, DE4 3DP during opening hours and on request by emailing

quoting reference Z3459, until 6 weeks after the Order is made until 24th Day September 2026.
Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order, or any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the ground that a requirement of that Act or any relevant regulation made under it has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from the 13th August 2026 make application for the purpose to the High Court.
