What is happening?

THE LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(LANCASTER YOUTH CYCLE RACE 2026, QUERNMORE, LANCASTER, LANCASTER CITY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit any motor vehicle or cycle ( apart from those participating in the event ) from proceeding over the following lengths of highway, in the City of Lancaster;
i. Wyresdale Road, Lancaster, from its junction with Grab Lane to its junction with Newlands Road.
ii. Grab Lane, Lancaster, from its junction with Wyresdale Road to its junction with Quernmore Road.
iii. Quernmore Road, Lancaster, from its junction with Grab Lane for a distance of 321 metres in an Easterly direction.
iv. Quernmore Road, Quernmore, from its junction with Newlands Road for a distance of 753 metres in a Westerly direction.
v. Newlands Road, Quernmore, from its junction with Quernmore Road to its junction with Wyresdale Road.
An alternative route for vehicular traffic and cyclists affected by the closure will be locally signed.
Access for residents and business will be maintained at intervals during the closure.
The Police, Fire and Ambulance Services have been informed.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to enable the safe holding of the Lancaster Youth Cycle Race 2026.
The prohibition will be operative from 0900 hours to 1700 hours on Sunday 30th August 2026.
