DERBYSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 
THE DERBYSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL 
(A52 STAFFORDSHIRE COUNTY BOUNDARY TO DERBY CITY BOUNDARY AND ADJACENT ROADS) (SPEED LIMIT REDUCTION) ORDER 2026 

Notice is hereby given that on the 13th day of August 2026 the Derbyshire County Council made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. 

The Order will come into operation on the 24th August 2026 and its effect is:

TO INTRODUCE A 30MPH SPEED LIMIT (RESTRICTED ROAD) ON THE FOLLOWING LENGTHS OF ROAD:
A52 Ashbourne Road, Kirk Langley

From its junction with Church Lane in a north-westerly direction for a distance of 150 metres.

From its junction with Church Lane in a south-easterly direction for a distance of 603 metres.

TO INTRODUCE A 40MPH SPEED LIMIT:
A52 Ashbourne Road, Kirk Langley

From a point 444 metres north-west of its junction with Church Lane in a north-westerly direction for a distance of 546 metres.

Exemptions Have been made for vehicles being used for Police, Fire Brigade or Ambulance purposes or any Vehicle falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemption (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations.

A copy of the Order and documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order are available for inspection at the County Council's principal offices known as County Hall on Smedley Street in Matlock, at Ashbourne Library, Compton, Ashbourne, Derbyshire, DE6 1DA, during opening hours and on request by emailing place.permanentTRO@derbyshire.gov.uk quoting reference Z3454, until 6 weeks after the Order is made until 24th of September 2026. 

Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order, or any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the ground that a requirement of that Act or any relevant regulation made under it has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from the 13th of August 2026 make application for the purpose to the High Court.
