(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Whittucks Road which extends from High Street to Whittucks Close. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with fibre works. 

The order became operative from 26 August 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 days duration. 

Alternative route: Whittucks Road, Memorial Road, High Street and vice versa.

(Manor Road, Wick)
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Manor Road which extends from Barrow Hill to Rose and Crown Lane. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with overhead cabling works to provide new fibre connection. 

The order became operative from 25 August 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 9:30am and 3:30pm. 

Alternative route: Wick Lane, Oldbury Lane, High Street and vice versa.

(Temporary Suspension of Bus Lane) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has suspended, temporarily, the bus lane on the northbound carriageway of Rosedown Drive (Stoke Gifford Bypass) which extends from a point 255m south of Great Stoke Way North southwards for 120m. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon plaining, fine milling and re-waterproofing the structure and resurfacing works. 

The order became operative from 24 August 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The measures however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 weeks duration.

(Rag Lane, Wickwar)
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Rag Lane which extends from Cowship Lane southwards for 90m. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon stop tap replacement works on or adjacent to the highway. 

The order became operative from 24 August 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 days duration. 

Alternative route: Rag Lane (parts unaffected), Westend Road, Cowship Lane and vice versa.

(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Slaits Road which extends from High Street to Roachs Lane. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon lead pipe replacement works on or adjacent to the highway. 

The order became operative from 24 August 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration. 

Alternative route: The Limes, Station Road, B4040 Sodbury Road, A46, Badminton Road and vice versa.

(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians the lengths of road specified in the Schedule to this notice. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon surfacing works. 

The order became operative from 24 August 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 weeks duration, between 8pm and 6am. 

SCHEDULE 1. A46 Stroud Road – from France Lane northwards for 1000m 2. A433 Tetbury Road – from A46 in north eastwards for 300m 

Alternative routes: 1. A46 (part unaffected), A4135, A38, B4427, B4059, A432, A46 (part unaffected) and vice versa 2. A433 (part unaffected), A4135, A46 (part unaffected) and vice versa.

(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of A4017 Soundwell Road which extends from B4465 High Street to Page Road. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with new electricity supply works. 

The order became operative from 21 August 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration. 

Alternative route: A4175, A4174. A420, A4017 (parts unaffected) and vice versa.

(Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting) Order 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that on 12 August 2026 South Gloucestershire District Council made an order under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3) and 4(2) of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which is to: a) prohibit vehicles waiting at any time (double yellow lines) in lengths of Badminton Road, Buckingham Gardens, Buckingham Place, Carpenters Shop Lane, Chestnut Road, Christchurch Avenue, Christchurch Lane, Clarence Road, Cleeve Hill Extension, Cleeve Road, Coronation Road (Downend), Croomes Hill, Dial Lane, Downend Park Road, Downend Road (Downend), Edmund Close, Grace Road, Hill House Road, Longden Road, North Street, North Street Layby – Layby in front of Numbers 114 to 124 North Street, Overndale Road, Overnhill Court, Overnhill Road, Park Road, Staple Hill, Peache Court, Peache Road, Salisbury Gardens, Salisbury Road, Shrubbery Road, Westerleigh Road, West Park Road and Woodlands Rise, Downend; b) prohibit vehicles waiting between the hours of 8am and 6pm on Monday to Saturday (inclusive) in lengths of Buckingham Place, Downend Road (Downend), Overndale Road and Westerleigh Road, Downend; c) restrict vehicles waiting between the hours of 8am and 6pm on Monday to Saturday (inclusive), 30 minutes with no return within 1 hour in lengths of Badminton Road, North Street and North Street Layby – Layby in front of Numbers 114 to 124 North Street, Downend; d) restrict vehicles waiting between the hours of 8am and 6pm on Monday to Saturday (inclusive), one hour with no return within 2 hours in lengths of Buckingham Place and North Street, Downend; e) vary further the South Gloucestershire Council (The Chase Area – South Gloucestershire) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting) (Consolidation) Order 2018, as varied, in so far as it relates to the lengths of road specified in item a) to item d) above, the provisions of which will be brought forward into the new order; f) revoke the South Gloucestershire Council (The Chase Area – South Gloucestershire) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting) (Consolidation) Order 2018, as varied, in so far as it relates to Clarence Road, Cleeve Hill Extension, Cleeve Road, Coronation Road, Downend Park Road, Peache Court, Shrubbery Road and West Park Road, Downend, the provisions of which will be brought forward unchanged into the new order; and g) revoke the South Gloucestershire Council (Grace Road and Downend Road – Red Bus Nursery and Pre-School area) (Prohibition of Waiting) Order 2019. Exemptions in the order permit any vehicle to wait for the purpose of boarding or alighting; loading or unloading goods; Post Office services; maintenance of the road; supply of gas, water or electricity; the pursuance of statutory powers or duties; taking in petrol, oil, water or air from any garage; weddings or funerals and in accordance with the current provisions for vehicles which display a disabled person’s badge. 

The order will come into operation on 31 October 2026 and a copy thereof together with a map, copies of any orders to be varied/revoked and a copy of the Council’s Statement of Reasons for making the order, may be inspected at Kingswood One Stop Shop, Kingswood Civic Centre, Kingswood, during normal opening hours. 

Any person who desires to question the validity of, or of any provision contained in the order on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, or on the grounds that any of the relevant requirements of that Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, may within six weeks after the date on which the order was made, apply to the High Court for this purpose.

(Badminton Road, Downend)
(Designated Disabled Persons’ Parking Place) Order 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that on 12 August 2026 South Gloucestershire District Council made an order under sections 32 and 35 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which is to provide designated disabled persons’ parking places at locations in Badminton Road, Downend. 

The order will come into operation on 31 October 2026 and a copy thereof together with a map and a copy of the Council’s Statement of Reasons for making the order, may be inspected at Kingswood One Stop Shop, Kingswood Civic Centre, Kingswood during normal opening hours. 

Any person who desires to question the validity of, or of any provision contained in the order on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, or on the grounds that any of the relevant requirements of that Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, may within six weeks after the date on which the order was made, apply to the High Court for this purpose.

(A432 Badminton Road, Coalpit Heath)
(Prohibition of Waiting) Order 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that on 12 August 2026 South Gloucestershire District Council made an order under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3) and 4(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which is to prohibit vehicles waiting at any time in lengths of A432 Badminton Road – Lay-by north of the viaduct, Coalpit Heath. 

Exemptions in the order permit any vehicle to wait for the purpose of boarding or alighting; loading or unloading goods; Post Office services; maintenance of the road; supply of gas, water or electricity; the pursuance of statutory powers or duties; taking in petrol, oil, water or air from any garage; weddings or funerals and in accordance with the current provisions for vehicles which display a disabled person’s badge. 

The order will come into operation on 20 August 2026 and a copy thereof together with a map and a copy of the Council’s Statement of Reasons for making the order, may be inspected at Yate One Stop Shop (next to the Leisure Centre), Kennedy Way, Yate during normal opening hours. 

Any person who desires to question the validity of, or of any provision contained in the order on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, or on the grounds that any of the relevant requirements of that Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, may within six weeks after the date on which the order was made, apply to the High Court for this purpose.

(Public Footpath PMR/10/50, Emersons Green)
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the above order, made by South Gloucestershire District Council on 25 February 2026, has been continued in force with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport until 7 March 2027 or until such time as the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. 

The effect of the order has closed, temporarily, to foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Public Footpath PMR/10/50 which extends from PMR/10/40 to PMR/8/70. 

This order was required in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon new path installation and landscaping works and would have expired on 7 September 2026. Alternative Route: PMR/8, Pinnell Grove Footpath, Betts Green and vice versa.

(Public Footpath OOS/68/20, Oldbury-on-Severn)
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Foot Passengers) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to foot passengers the entire length of Public Footpath OOS/68/20. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon pumping station refurbishment works. 

The order will be operative from 18 September 2026 for a maximum period of six months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 6 months duration. Alternative route: OOS/68/30, OOS/69/10, OOS/67/10 and vice versa.

(Hortham Lane, Almondsbury and Burton Road, Acton Turville)
(Temporary 10 mph Speed Limit) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to:- 

a) prohibit, temporarily, any vehicle proceeding at a speed in excess of 10 miles per hour in the lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 to this notice; and b) suspend, temporarily, the South Gloucestershire Council (Various Roads, Acton Turville Area) (20 mph Speed Limit) (30 mph Speed Limit) (40 mph Speed Limit) (50 mph Speed Limit) Order 2017 in so far as it relates to the length of road specified in Schedule 2 to this notice, for the duration of the order. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon PTSI survey works. 

The order will be operative from 14 September 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The restrictions however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 months duration. 

SCHEDULE 1 Hortham Lane, Almondsbury – that length which extends from a point 390m south west of Gaunts Earthcott Lane westwards for 75m. 

SCHEDULE 2 Burton Road, Acton Turville – that length which extends from a point 770m south of The Street southwards to the county boundary.

(Temporary Suspension of Designated Taxi Rank) Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to suspend, temporarily, the South Gloucestershire Council (Church Road, Filton) (Designated Taxi Rank) Order 2004 in so far as it relates to the taxi rank specified in the Schedule to this notice. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with electrical ducting works on or adjacent to the highway. 

The order will be operative from 14 September 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The restriction however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 week duration.

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Station Road which extends from a point 390m south of Wotton Road southwards for 160m. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with new mains and cabling installation works. 

The order became operative from 26 August 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 weeks duration.

Details of the proposed changes

NOTICE is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council proposes to make an order under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 4(2), 32(1), 35(1), 45, 46, 46A, 49 and 51 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which will be: a) introduce Permit Parking Places in lengths of Station Road, Charfield; 

b) introduce Shared Use Parking Places in lengths of Station Road, Charfield; 

c) prohibit vehicles waiting at any time in lengths of Charfield Green, Falcon Road, Horsford Road, Little Bristol Lane, Manor Lane, New Street, The Sidings, Station Road, Wotton Road and Woodlands Road, Charfield; 

d) prohibit vehicles waiting between the hours of 10am and 11am and 3pm and 4pm on Monday to Sunday (inclusive) in lengths of Charfield Green, Cotswold View, Farm Lees, Horsford Road, Little Bristol Lane, Longs View, Manor Lane, New Street, The Sidings and Underhill Road, Charfield; 

e) restrict any vehicle waiting between the hours of 8am and 8pm on Monday to Sunday (inclusive), twenty minutes with no return within two hours in a length of Little Bristol Lane, Charfield; 

f) introduce a Disabled Persons’ Parking Place in Charfield Green, Charfield; 

g) revoke the South Gloucestershire Council (Severn Vale Area – South Gloucestershire) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting) (Consolidation) Order 2007 as varied, in so far as it relates to Station Road and Little Bristol Lane, the provisions of which will be consolidated into the new order subject to the provisions of a) above; and 

h) revoke the South Gloucestershire Council (Wotton Road, Charfield) (Prohibition of Waiting) Order 2019 the provisions of which will be consolidated into the new order subject to the provisions of a) above.

Exemptions in the order permit any vehicle to wait for the purpose of boarding or alighting; loading or unloading goods; delivering postal packets; maintenance of the road; supply of gas, water or electricity; the pursuance of statutory powers or duties; taking in petrol, oil, water or air from any garage; weddings or funerals and in accordance with the current provisions for vehicles displaying a disabled person’s badge.
