MAE GWEINIDOGION CYMRU yn bwriadu gwneud Gorchymyn o dan adran 14 o Ddeddf Rheoleiddio Traffig Ffyrdd 1984 ymhen dim llai na 7 niwrnod i ddyddiad yr Hysbysiad hwn. Mae angen y Gorchymyn arfaethedig oherwydd y tebygolrwydd o berygl i’r cyhoedd yn sgil rhwystr diogelwch diffygiol ar draffordd yr M48 rhwng Cyffordd 23 (Rogiet), Cas-gwent a Chyffordd 2 (Cyfnewidfa Newhouse) yn Sir Fynwy.

Effaith y Gorchymyn arfaethedig fydd gwahardd dros dro bob cerbyd modur rhag mynd ar y darnau o’r M48 a bennir yn yr Atodlen i’r Hysbysiad hwn.

Disgwylir y bydd y gwaharddiad, y codir arwyddion priodol yn ei gylch, yn weithredol o 00:01 o’r gloch ar 31 Awst 2026 ac yn parhau tan 23:59 o’r gloch ar 1 Mawrth 2028 neu hyd nes y caiff yr arwyddion traffig dros dro eu symud ymaith yn barhaol.

1. Y darn o gerbytffordd tua’r dwyrain yr M48 sy’n ymestyn o drwyniad ffisegol y ffordd ymadael tua’r dwyrain wrth Gyffordd 23 yr M4 (Rogiet), hyd at bwynt 260 o fetrau i’r dwyrain o drwyniad ffisegol y ffordd ymuno tua’r dwyrain wrth Gyffordd 2 yr M48 (Cyfnewidfa Newhouse).

2. Y darn o gerbytffordd tua’r dwyrain Cyffordd 2 yr M48 (Cyfnewidfa Newhouse) sy’n ymestyn o bwynt 180 o fetrau i’r dwyrain o drwyniad ffisegol y ffordd ymadael tua’r gorllewin hyd at drwyniad ffisegol y ffordd ymuno tua’r gorllewin i’r M4 wrth Gyffordd 23 (Rogiet).

Y Llwybr Arall

Bydd y llwybr dargyfeirio ar gyfer cerbydau sy’n bwriadu teithio tua’r dwyrain ar draws Pont Hafren ar Bont Tywysog Cymru yr M4. Bydd y llwybr dargyfeirio ar gyfer cerbydau ar Ffordd Gyswllt Dyffryn Gwy ac isffyrdd eraill sy’n cysylltu wrth Gyffordd 2 yr M48 (Cyfnewidfa Newhouse) ar hyd yr M48 tua’r gorllewin i Gyffordd 23a (Magwyr) yr M4, cyn gadael ac ailymuno â’r M4 tua’r dwyrain, a chroesi Pont Tywysog Cymru yr M4.

Y llwybr dargyfeirio ar gyfer cerbydau sy’n teithio tua’r gorllewin i Gymru fydd mynd ar Bont Tywysog Cymru yr M4. Dylai’r cerbydau hynny sy’n bwriadu teithio i Gas-gwent / Dyffryn Gwy ymadael ac ailymuno â’r M4 tua’r dwyrain wrth Gyffordd 23a (Magwyr) cyn ymuno â cherbytffordd yr M48 tua’r dwyrain wrth Gyffordd 23 ac yna teithio i Gyffordd 2 yr M48 (Cyfnewidfa Newhouse).

THE M48 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 23 (ROGIET), CHEPSTOW, TO JUNCTION 2 (NEWHOUSE INTERCHANGE), MONMOUTHSHIRE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF VEHICLES) ORDER 202-

THE WELSH MINISTERS propose, in not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which is necessary due to the likelihood of danger to the public because of a defective safety barrier on the M48 motorway between Junction 23 (Rogiet), Chepstow, and Junction 2 (Newhouse Interchange) in the County of Monmouthshire.

The effect of the proposed Order will be to temporarily prohibit all motor vehicles on the lengths of the M48 described in the Schedule to this Notice.

The prohibition, which will be signed accordingly, is expected to operate from 00:01 hours on 31 August 2026 and remain in force until 23:59 hours on 1 March 2028 or until the temporary traffic signs are permanently removed.

Although the proposed Order is only expected to operate during the dates specified above, it will remain valid for a maximum period of 18 months as a contingency should the work need to be rescheduled, or consequential work is required due to unforeseen circumstances.

SCHEDULE

Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles

1. The length of the M48 eastbound carriageway that extends from the physical nosing of the eastbound exit slip road at the M4 Junction 23 (Rogiet), to a point 260 metres east of the physical nosing of the eastbound entry slip road at the M48 Junction 2 (Newhouse Interchange).

2. The length of the M48 Junction 2 (Newhouse Interchange), from a point 180 metres east of the physical nosing of the westbound exit slip road to the physical nosing of the westbound entry slip road onto the M4 at Junction 23 (Rogiet).

Alternative Route

The diversion route for vehicles intending to travel eastbound across the Severn Bridge will be via the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge. The diversion route for vehicles on Wye Valley Link Road and other minor roads connecting at M48 Junction 2 (Newhouse Interchange) will be via the M48 westbound to Junction 23a (Magor) of the M4, before exiting and rejoining the M4 eastbound, and crossing the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge.

The diversion route for vehicles travelling westbound to Wales will be via the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge. Those vehicles intending to travel to Chepstow / Wye Valley should exit and rejoin the M4 eastbound at Junction 23a (Magor) before joining the M48 eastbound carriageway at Junction 23 and then travelling to the M48 Junction 2 (Newhouse Interchange).
