What is happening?

THE LONDON BOROUGH OF BARKING AND DAGENHAM
Road Traffic Acts - (7.5t Weight Restriction) (Western Avenue, Dagenham) - Order 2026

Notice is hereby given that the Council of The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham in exercise of its powers under sections 6 and 124 and Parts I to IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended (hereinafter called "the Act") and all other enabling legislation and powers and after consultation with the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis in accordance with Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Act made the above Order, the effect of which will be to:
1. Prohibit all vehicles, the maximum gross weight of which exceeds 7.5 tonnes, from Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 9:15am to proceed along the following roads:
a. Western Avenue from its junction with Rainham Road South for its entire length.
b. Mayswood Gardens, for its entire length.

A copy of the Order, which will come into force on 27 August 2026 and the Council’s Statement of Reasons for making the Order are available to view for a period of 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made on the Councils website by visiting the following webpage: https://www.lbbd.gov.uk/parking/parking-area, and selecting ‘New and proposed traffic and parking schemes’ or available for inspection at the Adult Library, First Floor, Barking Learning Centre, Barking between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm Monday to Friday.

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that they are not within the powers of the Act, or that any requirement of the Act or any Regulations under it have not been complied with may do so within six weeks of the made date of the Order by applying to the High Court.
