ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 14 (1) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC WEST END ROAD/BAYNARD AVENUE/HALLGATE AND WEST GREEN, COTTINGHAM
Notice is hereby given that East Riding of Yorkshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along West End Road/Baynard Avenue/Hallgate and West Green, Cottingham (junction of West End Road and Eppleworth Road), (junction between Hallgate and West Green), (junction between Finkle Street and West Green), (junction between Baynard Avenue and
Southwood Road) commencing Monday 7 September 2026 between 18.00 hours and 00.00 hours to undertake planned highway and footway works including resurfacing of the existing carriageway and the replacement of damaged kerbs and ironwork. The road closure is necessary to enable the works to be carried out in a manner consistent with ensuring the safety of the public.
The Order is valid for 18 months, but it is anticipated that the works will be completed by Friday 2 October 2026.
The alternative route for traffic affected by the road closure will be via Eppleworth Road, Green Lane, Castle Road, Southwood Road, South Street, Newgate Street, Thwaite Street, New Village Road, Northgate and West End Road.
The diversion route will be signed at the time of closure. Access will be maintained for residents, pedestrians and emergency services only.
