TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
Sunderland City Council gives notice that on 18th August 2026 it made an Order under Section 16(A) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit all vehicle traffic from those sections of carriageway listed in the Schedule. The Order is required to facilitate the holding of a social event. The Order comes into force on 5th September 2026. The duration of the closure under the Order will be for one day. All vehicles will be prohibited from those sections of carriageway listed in the Schedule between the hours of 7.00am and 8.00pm or until the event has finished or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. An alternative route will be provided.
Schedule: West Sunniside - From its junction with St Thomas Street to its junction with Athenaeum Street; Norfolk Street – Its entire length; and Coronation Street - From its southern junction with Norfolk Street East Rear to its western extent.
