(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of A570 St Helens Road, Ormskirk from its junction with the A570 Park Road to its junction with the A570 Knowsley Road.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours on Monday 24th August until 1800 hours on Saturday 29th August 2026 or until completion of the works within this period. Access for emergency services will be maintained whenever and wherever possible.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
a. Northbound: A570 Knowsley Road, A570 Moor Street, A570 St Helens Road, b. Southbound: A570 Park Road, A570 Church Street, A570 Derby Street West, A570 Derby Street, A570 Stanley Street, A570 Knowsley Road
6. An alternative route for HGVs affected by the closure is via:- A570 St Helens Road, A570 Ormskirk Road, A570 Rainford Road, M58, A59 Dunningsbridge Road, A59 Northway, A59 Liverpool Road, A59 Holland Hill, B5197 Aughton Stretet, A570 Park Road and vice versa
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow excavation works to facilitate cable jointing and new electrical equipment, within St Helens Road substation. Works include delivery and lifting of new equipment into the substation.
