ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U6200 DANE HILL ROAD, HERRINGSWELL

Suffolk County Council has made an Order closing the U6200 Dane Hill Road, Herringswell from Lilac Park footpath for 30 metres north eastbound to facilitate pole and overhead cabling works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Dane Hill Road, Herringswell Road, the B1506, the B1085, Dane Hill Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 19/08/2026 - 20/08/2026 but, if necessary, the Order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C549 LOW ROAD, WORTHAM

Suffolk County Council has made an Order closing the C549 Low Road, Wortham from Hempland Cottage for 200 metres westbound to facilitate telecommunications pole testing works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Low Road, The Doit, Doit Lane, the A1088, the B1113, Fen Street and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate on 19/08/2026 from 9.30am - 3.30pm but, if necessary, the Order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U4555 LIME TREE PLACE, STOWMARKET

Suffolk County Council has made an Order closing the U4555 Lime Tree Place, Stowmarket from no. 24 - no. 38 to facilitate stop tap replacements. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Bridge Street, Ipswich Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 19/08/2026 - 21/08/2026 from 8am - 6pm but, if necessary, the Order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U4555 BRIDGE STREET, STOWMARKET

Suffolk County Council has made an Order closing the U4555 Bridge Street, Stowmarket from no. 15 - no. 25 to facilitate waterworks. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Lime Tree Place, Ipswich Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate on 19/08/2026 from 7am - 12pm but, if necessary, the Order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF FOOTPATHS 13 AND 3, GREAT LIVERMERE AND LITTLE LIVERMERE

Suffolk County Council has made an Order closing Footpath 13, Great Livermere and Footpath 3, Little Livermere from the junction with Bury Road for 1330 metres westbound for safety reasons due to fallen trees and unsafe and dilapidated footbridges. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

The diversion route will be Footpath 3 Little Livermere, Footpath 2 Great Livermere, Footpath 10 Great Livermere, The Street, Bury Road and vice versa.

This Order continues in force the emergency measures operating since 30/07/2026.

It is intended that the closure will operate until 29/01/2027 (or longer if extended by the Minister).

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (DISTRICT OF BABERGH) (STOPPING, WAITING AND LOADING PROHIBITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS AND ON-STREET PARKING PLACES) (MAP-BASED) ORDER 2019 (GREAT CORNARD) (BURES ROAD) (B1508) (MILL TYE) (U8638) (PROHIBITION OF WAITING) (VARIATION NO.37) ORDER 202-

Suffolk County Council proposes to make the above Order under Sections 1(1) and (2), 2(1) to (3), 4(2) and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which would substitute revision 1 of Map Tile GZ68 and revision 2 of Map Tile OT66 in place of revision 0 and revision 1 respectively of the same Map Tiles, into the above-named 2019 Order. The effect of this would be to:

  • introduce ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ on the junction of Mill Tye (U8638), on its south side, where it meets Bures Road (B1508) for a distance of 10.6m in a westerly direction
  • remove ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ on Bures Road (B1508):
  • on its eastern side from the northern boundary of the Kings Head and goes south for a distance of approximately 43m, and
  • on its western side from the centre of the junction with Mill Tye (U8638) in a southerly direction for approximately 32m.

Exemptions to the waiting restrictions allow a vehicle to wait for so long as is necessary to board or alight or to load and unload for building, industrial or demolition works; for emergency services; for the maintenance of the road or its services; and for fulfilling statutory duties. There are the usual exemptions for blue badge-holders.

Copies of the draft Order, map showing the roads affected and the council’s reasons for the proposals, may be seen with advance notice at the address below, 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday, also at Great Cornard Library, Thomas Gainsborough School (formerly known as the Upper School), Head Lane, Great Cornard CO10 0JU. Monday: 10am - 1.30pm Tuesday: 10am - 1pm, Wednesday: Closed, Thursday: 2pm - 7pm, Friday: 10am - 1pm and 1.30pm - 5pm, Saturday and Sunday: 10am - 3pm. NOTICE OF PROPOSED ZEBRA CROSSING ON BURES ROAD (B1508), GREAT CORNARD, DISTRICT OF BABERGH

Suffolk County Council proposes to implement a new zebra crossing outside of the Kings Head PH and to the southern side of the junction with Mill Tye (U8638).

  • School Hill (C749) on its west side, from the southern edge of no 15, south for a distance of 22m
  • Stone Street Road (C749) on its north side, from its junction with Church Street, east for a distance of 15m, and
  • Stone Street Road (C749) on its south side, from its junction with School Hill, east for a distance of 25.5m.
