Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
Claremont Street, Herne Bay, CT6 8NB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow drainage works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Claremont Street, Herne Bay from 24th August 2026, with estimated completion by 6th November 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Claremont Street, Clarendon Street, Sunnyhill Road, B2205 Sea Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Curtis Wood Road, Herne, CT6 7JU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Curtis Wood Road, Herne from 24th August 2026 with estimated completion by 25th August 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed approximately 100m northwest of number 122, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Curtis Wood Road, Busheyfields Road, A291 Canterbury Road, Curtis Wood Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Faversham Road, Seasalter, CT5 4BN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Faversham Road, Seasalter from 24th August 2026 with estimated completion by 25th August 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 278, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic travelling westbound is via Faversham Road, Joy Lane, B2205 Borstal Hill, Clapham Hill, A299 Westbound on slip, A299 Thanet Way, Graveney off slip, Staple Street, Staple Street Road, Head Hill Road, Seasalter Road and Faversham Road.
The alternative route for any through traffic travelling eastbound is via Faversham Road, Seasalter Road, Head Hill Road, Whitstable Road, A299 Thanet Way on slip, A299 Thanet Way, A2990 Thanet Way slip way, A2990 (Old) Thanet Way, B2205 Borstal Hill, Joy Lane and Faversham Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Hawthorn Avenue, Canterbury, CT2 7WY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Hawthorn Avenue, Canterbury from 24th August 2026, with estimated completion by 30th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 7, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Jubilee Road, Littlebourne, CT3 1XW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMER 2026
To allow stop tap replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Jubilee Road, Littlebourne from 8th September 2026, with estimated completion by 10th September 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 40, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Jubilee Road, Church Road, Nargate Street, A257 High Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Kite Farm, Whitstable, CT5 2RQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow footway reconstruction works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Kite Farm, Whitstable from 24th August 2026, with estimated completion by 18th October 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in phases, for the entire length of the road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Longmead Close, Herne Bay, CT6 7QW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow low-voltage mains works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Longmead Close, Herne Bay from 10th September 2026, with estimated completion by 16th September 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 8, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Out Elmstead Lane, Barham, CT4 6PH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Out Elmstead Lane, Barham from 10th September 2026 with estimated completion by 11th September 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed opposite Magnolia Cottage, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any westbound through traffic is via Out Elmstead Lane, A2 Dover Road, Bonnybush Slip Westbound Off, Bonny Bush Hill, Black Robin Lane and Valley Road.
The alternative route for any eastbound through traffic is via Out Elmstead Lane, Valley Road, Brickfield Road, Rabbit Hole, Church Lane, Gravel Castle Road, Old Dover Road, A2 Dover Road and Out Elmstead Lane.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Rochester Avenue, Canterbury. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow ducting works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Rochester Avenue, Canterbury from 10th September 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 9, Rochester Court, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2050 New Dover Road, New Dover Road (Service Road), Lichfield Avenue, Wells Avenue and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
School Lane, Ickham, CT3 1QX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2026
To allow new connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on School Lane, Ickham from 24th August 2026, with estimated completion by 26th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via School Lane, Wingham Lane, A257 Canterbury Road, Cherville Lane, School Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Sea Wall, Whitstable, CT5 1AW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Sea Wall, Whitstable from 24th August 2026, with estimated completion by 26th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside Estuary House, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Seymour Avenue, Whitstable, CT5 1SB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Seymour Avenue, Whitstable from 24th August 2026, with estimated completion by 30th August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 37, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Seymour Avenue, Old Bridge Road, Douglas Avenue, Kings Avenue and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
South Street, Whitstable, CT5 3EL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of South Street, Whitstable from 8th September 2026 with estimated completion by 9th September 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside Brooklands Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via South Street, Millstrood Road, A2990 Thanet Way, Chestfield Road, South Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
St Peter’s Road, Whitstable, CT5 1HX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow new gas connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of St Peter’s Road, Whitstable from 7th September 2026, with estimated completion by 14th September 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed adjacent to number 51 Albert Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Sydenham Street, Stream Walk, Albert Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The Street, Ickham, CT3 1QQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER AUGUST 2026
To allow heavy jetting and CCTV works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of The Street, Ickham from 27th August 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:00 and 15:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between St Johns House and Woodland St Mary, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via:
Diversion A - Wickham Lane, Wickham Road, Drill Lane and vice versa.
Diversion B - The Street, Wingham Lane, A257 Canterbury Road, Wingham Road, High Street, Nargate Street, Wickham Road, Wickham Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Warwick Road, Canterbury, CT1 1RD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER SEPTEMBER 2026
To allow resurfacing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Warwick Road, Canterbury from 7th September 2026 with estimated completion by 8th September 2026, between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00 only, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed 22m from the junction with A257 Littlebourne Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A257 Littlebourne Road, St Martin’s Hill, Spring Lane, Sussex Avenue, Kent Avenue, Warwick Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
