What is happening?

THE BOROUGH OF STOCKTON-ON-TEES ELTON INTERCHANGE (VARIOUS SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2023 AMENDMENT ORDER 2024

Notice is hereby given that Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council made the above Order on 20th August 2026 under Section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act.

The Order, which came into effect on 20th August 2026, has the effect of amending The Borough of Stockton-on- Tees, Elton Interchange (Various Speed Limits) Order 2023 to introduce a 50mph speed limit along the length ofroad specified in Schedule 1 hereto. The sealed Order, together with a map showing the affected roads, may be examined at the Stockton Customer Service Centre, Central Library, The Square, Stockton-on-Tees during normal office hours and on the Council’s website (Traffic Orders). If you wish to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on the grounds that any requirement of the Act or of any Instrument made under them has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within six weeks from the 20th August 2026 apply to the High Court for this purpose.

SCHEDULE 1 - 50mph Speed Limit

Durham Lane, Eaglescliffe - From a point approximately 370 metres south of its junction with the A66/Elton Interchange in a southerly direction to a point approximately 182 metres north of its junction with Cleasby Way.
