What is happening?

PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2026
On the 06 August 2026 Hampshire County Council confirmed the above Order made under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980. The effect of the Order as confirmed is to divert the public footpath from its current alignment commencing at SU 85191 37068 on Hammer Lane and proceeding through the driveway of the property known as Cobwebs to SU 85203 37078 at the property boundary, to a new alignment commencing at SU 85190 37072 on Hammer Lane and proceeding to SU 85203 37078, to the north-west of the current alignment.
A copy of the Order and the Order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at the offices of Hampshire County Council, The Castle, Winchester, SO23 8UD, and at the offices of East Hants District Council, Monterey House, Bedford Rd, Petersfield GU32 3LJ at all reasonable hours; and online at www.hants.gov.uk/publicnotices. Copies of the Order and the map can be provided on request.
The Order comes into force when Hampshire County Council has certified that the work necessary to bring the new path into a fit condition for use by the public has been carried out, but if any person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within six weeks from 28 August 2026 make an application to the High Court.
