A2 TRUNK ROAD (BARHAM) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A2 Trunk Road in the County of Kent, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road and facilities adjacent to the road, by contractors acting on behalf of Affinity Water The effect of the Order would be:- 1) to authorise - a) the overnight closure of the coastbound carriageway of the A2 between Barham Interchange (A260) and Westcourt Road; and all slip roads leading to and from said length of carriageway; b) the overnight closure of the road leading from the London-bound carriageway of the A2 at Barham Interchange (A260); and c) the 24-hour suspension of parking facilities in the area that is part of the highway running adjacent to the main southern carriageway of the A2, from the side road allowing access to Ropersole Park to a point approximately 265 metres south of said access. 2) to impose a 24-hour 50mph speed limit on the coastbound carriageway of the A2 between points approximately 360 metres and 2040 metres south of the centreline of the A260 overbridge, the road leading from the A2 at Ropersole Park, and the road described in 1) c) above, when not closed. These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake water mains supply and drainage surveys and maintenance works, and all associated works.

A2 TRUNK ROAD (BARHAM) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A2 Trunk Road in the County of Kent, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road and facilities adjacent to the road, by contractors acting on behalf of Affinity Water

The effect of the Order would be:-
1) to authorise -
a) the overnight closure of the coastbound carriageway of the A2 between Barham Interchange (A260) and Westcourt Road; and all slip roads leading to and from said length of carriageway;
b) the overnight closure of the road leading from the London-bound carriageway of the A2 at Barham Interchange (A260); and
c) the 24-hour suspension of parking facilities in the area that is part of the highway running adjacent to the main southern carriageway of the A2, from the side road allowing access to Ropersole Park to a point approximately 265
metres south of said access.
2) to impose a 24-hour 50mph speed limit on the coastbound carriageway of the A2 between points approximately 360 metres and 2040 metres south

These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake water mains supply and drainage surveys and maintenance works,
and all associated works.

It is expected that the work would occur in phases, starting with overnight closures, for surveys, of the road described in 1) b) above, 14th September
between 21:00 and 06:00 hours for three nights.

The overall duration will depend on the outcome of the surveys. The overnight closure of the coastbound carriageway would be needed only to install and remove lane closure and speed restriction traffic management and signage.

The Order would come into force on the 12th September  2026 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete. Traffic affected by the closure of the road described in 1) b) above would be diverted northbound on the A2 and Roman Road to Coldharbour Lane junction and return.

Through traffic affected by the closure of the road in 1) a) above would be strategically diverted using the A299 and A256. Traffic affected by the closure of Wick Lane will be diverted using the B2046 and A257 to
join the strategic diversion above.

The temporary closures, speed restriction, and diversions would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
