(HANDFORTH BYPASS AND MANCHESTER EAST AIRPORT LINK, STOCKPORT) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) NOTICE 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which introduced a Temporary Prohibition of Driving at Handforth Bypass, Cheadle Hulme northbound closure from Manchester East Airport Link to Stanley Road. Manchester East Airport Link, Heald Green eastbound on slip at Wilmslow Road.
Manchester East Airport Link, Heald Green eastbound off slip atHandford Bypass, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said roads, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said road.
This Order is necessary to enable works to construct a cycle track and footway along A34 northbound between the A555 and Stanley Road. It is estimated these works will last 2 nights.
The following diversions will be provided via: Handforth Bypass and A555 on slip diversion: Manchester East Airport Link, Wilmslow Road, Schools Hill Roundabout, and Handforth Bypass.
A555 off slip diversion: Manchester East Airport Link, Woodford Road, Manchester East Airport Link, and A34.
This Order will come into operation on 15 August 2026 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period. Ref: JO/18234135/10
