What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (C2043 WHITRIGG)
(TEMPORARY 30 MPH SPEED RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at speeds in excess of 30 miles per hour along the following sections of road:
- C2043 Whitrigg, from a point approx. 60 m southeast of the property known as “Rosemoor”, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 490m.
Duration: From 31 August 2026 for approx. 26 days (Ref: TTROC/19371)
- C2043 Whitrigg, from its junction with the C2042, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 780 m.
Duration: From 28 September 2026 for approx. 6 weeks (Ref: TTROC/19375)
No speed limit imposed by this Order will apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations.

The Order will come into operation on 31 August 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
