THE A50 TRUNK ROAD (TOYOTA ISLAND, FINDERN, DERBYSHIRE)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) intends to make an Order on the A50 Trunk Road at Findern, in the County of Derbyshire, to enable lighting works, barrier repairs, resurfacing and general maintenance works to be carried out. The effect of the Order, will be to, at different times –
(1) impose a speed limit of 40 miles per hour on the slip road leading to the eastbound carriageway of the A50 from the roundabout junction with the A38 slip roads and Etwall Road (Toyota Island), at Findern;
(2) impose a speed restriction of 50 miles per hour on the slip road leading from the westbound carriageway of the A50 to Toyota Island;
(3) close the slip roads described in (1) and (2) above; and
(4) prohibit vehicles with an overall width exceeding 3.25 metres from entering or proceeding on the slip road described in (1) above.
The works are expected to start at 19:00 hours on Monday 7 September 2026 and continue for approximately five weeks. The closures will be carried out overnight between 19:00 and 05:00 hours. The speed restriction will be in operation from 19:00 hours on Monday 7 September 2026, for twenty-four hours per day, for the duration of the works. The order will come into force on 31 August 2026 and will remain in force until completion of the works.
Any vehicle being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes will be exempt from the speed restrictions and closures. Special forces vehicles will be exempt from the speed restrictions and vehicles being used in connection with the works or for winter maintenance purposes will be exempt from the closures and width restriction.
A diversion route via the A50/A516/Derby Road/ Willowpit Lane Interchange will be signed.
