HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT NOTICES 2026

Installation of a Pegasus Crossing

As required under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, notice is hereby given that Norfolk County Council proposes to install a Pegasus crossing point for pedestrian and equestrian use, together with controlled areas on its approaches, at the following location:

B1534 Beaufort WayAt a point 320 metres east of the centreline of the roundabout junction with 6P156 Colby Drive.
Distances measured are to the centreline of the crossing.

The purpose of this proposal is to provide a safer and more convenient crossing facility for pedestrians and equestrians.

Installation of a Shared Use Footway/Cycle Track

Under Sections 65(1), 66(1) and 66(4) of the Highways Act 1980, Norfolk County Council propose to install a shared use footway/cycle track (with rights of way on foot) at the following location:

B1534 Beaufort Way (South Side)From the southern side of the roundabout junction with 6P325 Killett Road to the western side of the roundabout junction with 6P232 Chaplin Road, including all crossing points within that length, a distance of 527 metres.
This proposal will involve the removal and extension of the existing footway and/or verge and the construction of a combined footway/cycle track up to 3.0 metres in width.

Installation of a Bus Stop Clear Way

Notice is hereby given that Norfolk County Council propose to introduce bus stop clearways as defined in Schedule 7, Part 3 of the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016, which will prevent vehicles from stopping at any time, except buses along the following lengths of road:

B1534 Beaufort Way (North Side)From a point 140 metres north of the roundabout junction with 6P232 Chaplin Road, extending northwards for 17 metres.
B1534 Beaufort Way (South Side)From a point 207 metres north of the roundabout junction with 6P232 Chaplin Road, extending northwards for 17 metres.
This proposal is proposed to keep the area around the bus stops free from parked or waiting vehicles, ensuring buses can safely and efficiently pull into and depart from the stops without obstruction. This will help maintain the efficient operation of bus services, improve accessibility for passengers boarding and alighting, and enhance visibility and safety for all road users.

Copies are also available for inspection at Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Norwich, NR1 2DH and the offices of Great Yarmouth Borough Council, Town Hall, Hall Plain, Great Yarmouth, NR30 2QF. Online viewing is recommended.
