Cumberland - Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Utility Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE CUMBERLAND COUNCIL AREA) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO.15) ORDER 2026
(NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.
Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 1 September 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for as stated in the schedule and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
1. U2056, Near Wigton – From 1 September 2026 for approx. 11 days (Ref: TTROC/19216)
(i) From its southern junction with the A596, extending to its northerly junction with the A596; and
(ii) From a point approx. 130m south of its junction the U2058, extending in an overall south westerly direction for approx 860 m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U2056, U2058, U2059 Knox Hills, U2060 and A596.
2. C1038 Near Cotehill – From 7 September 2026 for approx. 11 days (Ref: TTROC/18639)
From its junction with the U1168, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 2.4km.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C1038, C3027, Armathwaite, C3015, A6, and B6263.
3. C2017 Pelutho – From 12 September 2026 for approx. 4 days (Ref: TTROC/19005)
From its junction with the U2043, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 850m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C2017, C2014, C2013, and B5301.
4. C2052, Near Silloth – From 12 September 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/19398)
From a point approx. 200m northwest of its junction with the B5302, extending in an overall westerly direction for approx. 250m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C2052, Skinburness Road, and the B5302.
5. U2041, Near Silloth – From 14 September 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/18992)
From its junction with the B5301, extending in a north easterly direction for its entire length.
There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.
6. U2145, Red Dial – From 17 September 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/19124)
From its junction with the B5305 extending in a south westerly direction to its junction the C2041.
Alternative Route: via the C2041, A595, and B5305.
7. C2050 Waverton – From 21 September 2026 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROC/19061)
From its junction with the A596, extending in a southerly direction to its junction with the U2138.
Alternative Route: via the U2138, C2006, and A596.
8. U2066, Near Wigton – From 21 September 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/19299)
From its junction with the B5302, extending in an overall easterly direction for approx. 1.7km.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U2066, A595, Thursby Roundabout, A596, and B5302.
9. C1026 and U1195, Near Heads Nook – From 21 September 2026 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROC/19563)
(i) C1026 from its junction with the U1195, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 230m; and
(ii) U1195 from its junction with the C1026, extending in a north easterly direction to its junction with the U1196.
Alternative Routes: via the unrestricted sections of the C1026, Heads Nook, C1035, and C1024 OR the U1196, and U1197, as appropriate.
10. U1192 Sandy Lane, Great Corby – From 22 September 2026 for approx. 1 day (Ref: TTROC/19567)
From a point approx. 170m north east of its junction with the C1027, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 110m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U1192, Clints Road, U1191, Burnrigg, A69, Warwick Bridge and C1027.
11. U2136 Westward – From 23 September 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/19269)
From its junction with the C2041, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 570m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U2136, U2145, and C2041.
12. U2067, Kirkland Road, Wigton – From 26 September 2026 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/19303)
From its junction with the U2066, extending in an overall south westerly direction for approx. 2km.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U2067, B5302, and U2066.
