SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Whitehall Road, Tipton) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via Whitehall Road from its junction with Sheepwash Lane to its junction with Tinsley Street. Traffic will be diverted via Great Bridge Street, Dudley Road, Claypit Lane, Greets Green Road, Whitehall Road & vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 23/08/26 (8am - 4pm). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Powke Lane, Rowley Regis) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via Powke Lane from its junction with Yew Tree Lane to its junction with Duke Street. Traffic will be diverted via Holly Road, Perry Park Road, Waterfall Lane, Beauty Bank, Halesowen Road, Heathfield Way, Highgate Street, Garretts Lane & vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 23/08/26 (9:30am - 3:30pm only). Pedestrians will be diverted via Harvington Walk, Elmhurst Avenue, Enfield Road & vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 24/08/2026 (9:30am - 3:30). Purpose – to facilitate the installation of an underground fibre optic cable by BT Openreach. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Highfield Road, Great Barr) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via Highfield Road between No’s 71-81. Traffic will be diverted via Broome Avenue, Greenfield Road, Tanhouse Avenue & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 28/08/2026, effective from 24/08/2026. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Highbury Road and Lonsdale Road, Smethwick) (Temporary Road Closures) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Highbury Road, which will be closed in its entirety from the junction of Mallin Street, & Lonsdale Road, which will be closed between the junctions of St Pauls Road & Highbury Road. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. A traffic diversion route for both road closures will be signed via St Pauls Road, Mallin Street & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 27/09/2026, effective from 22/08/2026 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access for the installation of a new water main and associated service connections by South Staffs Water.
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Horseley Heath, Tipton) (Temporary Cycle Lane Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit bicycles from proceeding along the cycle lane at Horseley Heath, which will be closed from the gable end of property No.241 to the southern gable end of the NTCG Life Centre. A diversion route will not be signed as this is a cycle lane closure, but cyclists will be requested to dismount and use the footway. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 28/08/2026, effective from 24/08/2026 (24hr). Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Tiverton Road, Exeter Road, Price Street & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 27/08/2026 (9am - 3:30pm). Purpose – to facilitate access for replacement works by MJ Quinn. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. There will be no traffic diversion route. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 25/08/2026 (8am - 6pm).
