What is happening?

SWINDON BOROUGH COUNCIL

(VARIOUS ROADS, SWINDON) (SPEED LIMITS) CONSOLIDATION ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Swindon Borough Council under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers and in consultation with the Chief Officer of the Police has made the above Order.

The effect is to revoke The Swindon Borough Council (Various Roads, Swindon) (Speed Limits) Consolidation Order 2022 and all subsequent variations to it and immediately re-enacts the provisions of those Orders without change.

The above Order does not make any changes or introduce any new restrictions to the existing speed restrictions.

The Order will be operative as of 18 August 2026 and a copy of the Order may be viewed on www.swindon.gov.uk/trafficregulationorders

If you wish to question the validity of the Order, or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirements of that Act or of any instrument made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within 6 weeks from 12 August 2026 apply to the High Court for this purpose.
