LONDON BOROUGH OF SUTTON

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Sutton propose to make the following Order: The Sutton (Parking, Waiting, Loading and Stopping Restrictions) (Amendment No. ) Order 202 under sections 6, 45, 46, 49 and 124 (insofar as applicable) to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, and all other powers thereunto enabling.

2. The general effect of the Order will be to:

(a) reduce certain lengths of parking restrictions to facilitate a new pedestrian crossing as mentioned in item 4 below; in Cheam Common Road south-east of its junction with Balmoral Road. The zigzag markings will extend to outside Nos. 2 to 16 Central Road on its north-east side and outside Balmoral Court and across the junction with Balmoral Road on its south-west side.

(b) introduce no waiting restrictions operating ‘at any time’ (double yellow lines) in Cheam Common Road outside Balmoral Court.

3. Commencing 13 August 2026, copies of the proposed Order, of the Council’s Statement of Reasons for proposing to make the Order and draft map-based schedules showing the location and the effect of the proposals may be inspected as follows:

(a) online at https://consultation.appyway.com/sutton selecting MapSutt1237 – Cheam Common Road Crossing;

(b) at the Council’s Civic Offices, St Nicholas Way, Sutton, SM1 1EA; or

(c) copies of the draft Order and draft map-based schedules can also be obtained by calling 020 8770 5000 (between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday).

Comments to the proposed Order can be submitted either electronically via the link provided in paragraph 3(a) above or in writing to the TMO Team, Highways and Transport, Kingston & Sutton Shared Environment Service, Civic Offices, St Nicholas Way, Sutton, SM1 1EA by 13 September 2026 quoting reference MapSutt1237 – Cheam Common Road Crossing.

4. FURTHER NOTICE IS ALSO HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Sutton intends to introduce a new puffin crossing as mentioned in item 2 above that have been designed to improve road safety for pedestrians in Cheam Common Road south-east of its junction with Balmoral Road. The zigzag markings will extend to outside Nos. 2 to 16 Central Road on its north-east side and outside Balmoral Court and across the junction with Balmoral Road on its south-west side. The overall length of the crossing and regulatory zig-zag road markings will be 44.9 metres.

Overtaking, parking, loading and unloading will be prohibited on the lengths of road covered by the zig-zag markings.
